Back in October 2008 it was revealed director William Friedkin was due to start work on The Exorcist Blu-ray release in December of that year. The source was the UK’s High Definition Review magazine, who had completed an interview with the director at the time.
In December 08, in issue 14 of their magazine, the entire interview was published for the first time. As of posting this, I have been unable to read the interview personally, however CaptainHowdy.com subscriber Rob recently brought some news to my attention: During the interview, Friedkin reveals the film print being used for the Blu-ray conversion is indeed The Version You’ve Never Seen:.
“It will be coming in the recent version, which is called ‘The Version You’ve Never Seen’. I didn’t call it a Director’s Cut, I just put 12 minutes back into the film that I had cut because at the time the film was too long. And then when it became so celebrated it turned out that people wanted to see everything.”
Mixed reactions from CaptainHowdy.com users and Exorcist fans worldwide, I’m sure. What’s your take on it? Are you happy with The Version You’ve Never Seen (But Have By Now), or were you preferring a different edition?
