I always thought of Jason as the “ghost” (so to speak) of Camp Crystal Lake. I know so much has been done to the character as far as being killed to death (literally)…

The first one for me. The others just weren’t spooky enough for me.

I respect your opinions Ghetto, but to me, I think the demon saw Karris as a weak spirit because of his problems with his mother and the fact that he had lost his faith. The demon then used those tools to keep Karris guessing as to the authenticity of the possession. And ultimatley to try and use it to destroy the rite of excorsim. Karris couldn’t quite figure out why some times Reagan showed signs of possession and other times she didn’t.

I think thats what made it that much easier for the demon to relate and then capture Reagan. The trust factor. He succeeded. He spoke with her through the Ouija board, fed her head with bullshit, and then possessed her.

Good stuff Heli. First off I don’t it’s fair to put Karris under the lamp. We caught him at a very bad time in his life. Did he feel like he was losing his faith before the events in the film? He probably did alittle. What made it worst was the fact that his mother injured herself (probably again) climbing the stairs. Everytime he came for a visit he spoke to her about ‘moving her somewhere safe where she could be taken care of’. But being the stubborn woman that she was, refused.
“This is my home and I’m not going no place.”
So if you ask me, from that moment in time, Karris had alot on his plate. So again, I don’t think it’s fair to judge his character that he wasn’t as easy going as Dyer. If you ask me, Father Dyer just might act the same if he was going through a similar crisis. If you wanna really dig deep, Karris did smoke, like Dyer. He drank (but that could of been because of his mother situation, but then again, he was swigging from the bottle and if you’ve never drank before, thats a pretty difficult thing to do. Alcohol burns going down!!) and last, he was a bit of a slanger. In other words, his brief interaction/conversation with Dyer sounded typical guy chatter. To make a long story short, I think Karris was just as fun loving as Dyer (maybe not as much) but he was very professional when it came to his job.

Karris in the room with Reagan. Hmmm, I don’t think there is anything to be read with the whole “3 different personalities that Reagan has manifested’ because it’s like Father merrin said (who has tackled this demon before) and I quote “There is only ONE!”
    1. Captain Howdy was created by the demon to make it easier to develope a relationship with Reagan. He wanted at first to develope a friendship. Someone she could talk to.
    2. The voice and imagery of Karris’s mother that the demon played off was to destroy the young priest’s spirit as well as destroy the rite of exorcism.
For the record, these observations are just my humble opinions.

Yeah. That would be heartbreaking for Chris to see. She would remember how it was with Reagan and herself and her grief would be even harder to handle. I think it would make Karris’s first meeting with Chris that much better as well.
Lemme ask you your opinion… when the demon crys,”Fear the priest. Fear the priest.” Remember when Karris is taping her voice for later studying? Do you think it actually meant to ‘fear’ Karris? Karris is the one who actually releases Reagan. He isn’t strong in faith, but he is strong. We always think Merrin because they battled once before. The demon could mean Karris.

When I watch that scene, to me, you can tell that Chris loves children. There’s no question. Her relationship with Reagan seems at times somewhat ‘sisterish’. Case in point the way they converse that night in the room about what they’re gonna do on her birthday, about Durke, things of that nature.
But getting back to the waiting room scene, as Chris watches them and smiles, little does she know that thats the last time she’s gonna hear the sounds of children playing, the laughter, so it’s almost tragic. I do feel so bad for Chris.

Hey Greg, Lugosi in Bride of the Monster said it best (which sums up Eddie in a nutshell):
“One is always considered mad when one discovers something that others cannot grasp.”
Ed Wood was truly ahead of his time.

I went to her website just yesterday… WOW!! She looks to be in great shape. Not bad. Not bad at all. To bad she hasn’t been REALLY noticed. I’d love to see her in a serious A film.

my favorite scene in the movie…

Father Merrin is seated in the living room praying just before going into Reagan’s room to perform the exorcism. Chris enters places a cup of what appears to be either coffee or tea on the table in front of him.
Merrin: Thank you. Thank you very much.
    Chris: You’re welcome.
Chris lights a match, watching Merrin, almost revering and at the same time eying him mysteriously. If you look at it, she’s actually kneeling at his feet.
Chris: Would you like some brandy in that, Father?”
Merrin: Well, the doctors say I shouldn’t. But thank God my will is weak.”
Merrin smiles at Chris as she takes the cup from him to add the brandy.

Here is a man, an old man who all hold in the highest regards! He couldn’t be more Holier!!
    a. Karris, “It’s an honor to meet you, Father.” Plus his other interactions with Merrin.
    b. The brief conversation with the old priest and Chris.
    c. The demon shouting out,”MERRIN!!!”
The demon at one point crys,”Fear the priest!” Not to mention how when Merrin angrly begins to bless Reagan (Merrins praying it appears is shouted out in anger), she cowers. The demon is in fact afraid.
But with that one little scene with Merrin and Chris about adding the brandy reveals that he is in fact just a man. But the others don’t see him as such. Father Merrin is worried about having brandy put in his fucking Tea/Coffee because the doctors say it isn’t good for him!!! What a powerful scene!! In my excitement, while typing this, I might have jumbled it and might not have explained myself fully but I hope you people can understand where I’m coming from.
As larger than life Merrin appears to be to present company…. he is just an old man.
To me my friends, that scene is huge!

Not bad Ghetto. I like it. Although, I liked Chris watching the two boys wrestle in the waiting room. It’s a nice little sublim. You’re right on the money about Reagan swearing. It does produce laughter out of the audience instead of shock but I am a sentimentalist, so it’d be very hard for me to cut that one out. Aside from that, it plays out great the way you describe it.
What about the tour around D.C. on Reagan’s birthday? Pictures from that “lost footage” has always facinated me. I would like to see how it plays out and perhaps consider editing it in. What do you think?

I don’t think Chris would of said anything to him. From the movie, I got the impression that he really didn’t care to be involved with the mother or the daughter.

Ro-Man: “I cannot, yet I must. How do you calculate that?! At what point on the graph do ‘must’ and ‘cannot’ meet? Yet I must! But I cannot.”

A classic line from a classic film:
    ROBOT MONSTER.
See it with someone you love.
