I don’t believe it was a hoax. I have faith that the priests involved in this case knew exactly what they were dealing with.

Captain – I emailed you the MP3 – did you ever receive it?

I think the fact that today’s audience sees the levitation wires, and laughed at the screen throughout the film, speaks volumes about how sophisticated and insensatized people have become.

It’s pretty sad – to me anyway.

OMG I’m so sorry – I completely forgot all about this. I promise when I get home from work I’ll dig up the mp3 and send to Captain Howdy.

    Sorry!

    On BTY – I believe it’s a Latin phrase that’s being whispered….from what I recall.

I know I have the whispers you speak of enhanced on an MP3 somewhere in my collection. It’s been a long time since I listened to it. When I get home from work, I’ll dig it up and email it to Captain Howdy, and maybe he can post a download link.

I always viewed it as an act of self-sacrafice….similar to that of Jesus Christ dying on the cross; athough, not on the same scale. Karras sacraficed his life, so that he could save Regan, while afirming his faith in the process.

I always wondered about this myself.

One thing to remember…the Chris first discoveres the crucifix under Regans pillow. She takes it out of her bedroom, and goes down stairs to ask if Sharon placed it in Regan’s bedroom. During this scene, Kinderman comes to the house…..Chris placed the crucifix on the table, and then has the discussion with Kinderman in the kitchen about Burkes death.

I believe the audience is supposed to assume that during Chris & Kinderman’s kitchen coversation, Regan snuck downstairs to the living room, and took the crucifix back to her bedroom.

The following scene after Kinderman leaves the house, we have Regan masterbating with the crucifix….that’s my take on the mystery.

It’s Regan roaming around in her bedroom.

This scene is in the film to show the audience that the spirit inside Regan had the ability to “make the straps disappear” any time it wished. The only reason it stayed strapped to the bed, is because it did so willingly….playing another mind game with the priests. Remember the line “much too vulgar display of power”….there you have it.

The whole Iraq sequence you’re speaking of, is all foreshadowing the events that are to come in Georgetown. The dogs are symbolising the battle that’s about to take place between Merrin and Pazuzu in the future.
