ParticipantThe only two horror movies that I consider superior to The Exorcist are The Shining and Suspiria. The Exorcist is the third in my list. On the same level, I think the extremly creepy and yet beautiful Korean movie “A Tale of Two Sisters”, Hitchcock´s “Psycho”, the original “Carnival of Souls”, Polanki´s “Repulsion” and the original “Black Christmas”.

ParticipantBasically, take off most of the cheesy lines and the eyes rolling bits from the the first hypnosis scene and the last hypnosis scene at the hotel. Cut part of the first meeting between Lamont and the Cardinal and add in the extended opening of Lamont climbing the hill to the church. Change the ending almost entirely.
-Regan gets inside the house and sees Lamont lying on the floor pointing to her bedroom. She enters the room and sees herself (use flashbacks from the original film, perhaps the masturbation scene, something shocking). Then, we see the cab approaching the house and Lamont approaching the room, and he opens the door to unleash the swarm of locusts. Sharon kills herself, while inside the room. There aren´t two Regans, Regan is now fully possessed, she seduces Lamont but he has a vision of Father Merrin saying “Phillip, you must take my place…” and Lamont starts exorcising Regan. You could use lines of Merrin exorcising Regan from the first movie and put them in the “fighting” scene, so it seems he´s exorcising her, not fighting. No, taking out the evil heart thing also.
The film ends as Lamont dies, and Regan fights the locusts, she looks around and sees Tuskin in state of shock, the police behind her. The film ends with a close-up of Regan´s face.mathmarchetti
ParticipantI wished Halloween IV was Halloween II actually. It works so much better as a sequel. Halloween II had too much needless gore, filled with cliches and terrible acting, expect for Jamie Lee Curtis. I think Donald Pleasence overacted here. He was much better in part IV

Participant1. The Shining
In my opinion, the best horror movie of all time. It´s one of the only films to be superior to the novel. Kubrick was able to turn horribly grotesque scenes into beauty and a landmark in horror film history.2. The Exorcist
Although I think The Shining is the best horror movie ever, The Exorcist is my favorite and quite possibly the movie I´ve seen more times the whole thing. It deserved more than just 2 oscars for sure!3. Psycho
It took me 7 years to finally take the gut to see it. I saw the shower scene on tv when I was 6 and it traumatized me for life. It´s a true cinematic masterpiece.4. Suspiria
Probably the film that scared me the most. Great music, atmosphere, storyline, photography and probably the best use of colors in a motion picture, wether it´s horror or not.5. Black Christmas
One of the most genius slashers, has almost no blood, very “beautifully” and tastefully done death scenes, very intelligent storyline and is extremly tense and suspenseful, with a great sense of humor as well!6.Alice Sweet Alice
It´s actually an American giallo. Very suspenseful and well done, and the killer is the last person you would imagine to commit a murder. It´s Argento meets Hitchcock.7. Inferno
Quite possibly the best sequel filmed to date, alongside The Exorcist III. Heavily underrated and quite possibly Argento´s best after Suspiria and The Bird with the Crystal Plumage. Has also very creative murder sequences and the urban setting makes the story even more terrifying than the boarding school from Suspiria.8. Sisters
Twisted, weird and genius movie. One scene from this film has been ripped off in Dario Argento´s masterful Profondo Rosso. The acting is very convincing and the weird camera angles and it´s crazy storyline only adds to the horror and suspense of it.9. The Changeling
This film inspired many other famous ghost story/haunted house flicks like The Others and The Ring. Very scary and effective, and the bathtub murder sequence is one of the vilest and sickest death scenes in a motion picture, without having a drop of blood on it.
10. Les Diaboliques
The best French horror film filmed to date. Very tense and terrifying, filled with twists you would ever imagine, scary music, sets and great acting from the three lead characters. The remake from the 90´s starring Isabelle Adjani and Sharon Stone is ok, but only watch it if you´ve seen the original first. It´s true art.mathmarchetti

ParticipantThe best horror saga after The Exorcist is probablty The Omen. The Jaws series were also pretty good. Although Jaws IV is a terrible movie and probably the worst in the series, it´s fun to watch. I would also say Amityville Horror, but after the 3rd film of the series everything got messed up.

ParticipantThe Omen and Omen II are equally great films, well acted, pretty damn scary and well scripted. I didn´t like Omen III too much, it´s worth it for Sam Neil´s performance, the ending and the soundtrack. Omen IV is actually a remake of the first one as it states in the documentary and I think it´s a little better than the 2006 remake, though. That little girl was scary!

Participant“I have to check as it may be my imagination, but I have a nagging memory that somewhere in the book it mentions her ripping out lines from her arms.”
Isn´t that from Exorcist II?

ParticipantI saw the shower scene of Psycho when I was 5 and I was traumatized for life! I´m a big fan of the movie now, and Psycho II is a great and underrated sequel. Psycho III didn´t have a very good plot, basically it was a re-hash of the events of Psycho and Psycho II, but it had great of colors and beautiful photography. Psycho IV is the worst in the series. The remake was OK, but needless overall. I haven´t seen Bates Motel yet but I´ve seen a trailer for it and it doesn´t seem very good

ParticipantIn filming with some friends at school my own sequel to The Exorcist. It is sort of a re-imagining of Exorcist II with Kinderman and Chris McNeil returning. There are only a few scenes to be shot, most of it is complete. The story opens with Kinderman writing a letter to Chris on Christmas day and walks to the steps where he remembers Karras’ death. He somehow feels that something evil is going on and that what happened was only the beginning, much like the prologue with Merrin in the first film. The action changes to London, where Regan is living with her father – Howard and jealous stepmother Mary. There is a subplot involving Mary’s extreme hate for Regan, having her being daughter of her husband’s previous marriage. A strange, troubled young priest starts tormenting the family, trying to question Regan. Meanwhile, she is having bizzare nightmares involving her exorcism (although she doesn’t know the girl on the bed is actually herself). Pazuzu starts plaguing her in the form of desceaded Karras and wants to get her once again, and only the priest can save her and find out the reason behind her strange possession and a mysterious accident that happened years before she was even born.

Participantit appears on the trailer for Exorcist II, but the scene is not in the movie.

ParticipantNosferatu remake is as good as the remake, but, it´s an extremly rare thing to occur. I pray that they don´t remake THE EXORCIST as well…

ParticipantHope you like it.
