I don’t agree, lunuso… I think Chris was pretty sure about the Devil after all… she says it clearly in the book…
But that is not the point… I mean… she was not a poor woman who couldn’t afford to move in a hotel or somewhere else… I think it is pretty “unbelievable” that they kept living there after three deaths and an exorcism with a real devil hanging around… I think a mother with a natural instict would just take away her child from a place where so many horrible things have happened… especially when she has the money to do it…
It would be more understandable if Chris was a “normal” woman with little money unable to pay a new house or a hotel…

Hi lunuso, well even if they were sleeping together it is strange they kept living there…

I think it is good that the house didn’t burn otherwise it would have been too typical… you know… there are 1000 of movies and stories ending in this way…
The problem is that Blatty needed at the end Dyer meeting Chris and Rags…and Kindermann meeting Dyer… so it would have been complicated to put them in another place… but actually possible like you said…
It would be interesting to know what Blatty thinks about it…

If you read the book it doesn’t seem they left the house or that Regan was in the hospital for a long time… It says that Father Dyer went to visit them many times in order to find out what happened.

Just think about it… You know that your doughter has been posseded in that house, that 3 persons have died there… would you stay? Would you let your daughter in that room full of horrible memories? I won’t…
I really think Blatty used this stratagem because otherwise he couldn’t involve very well the other characters (Kindermann and Dyer) at the end of the story…

Yes great, probably Regan stayed in the hospital let’s say for two-three weeks… but not for six!!! I really can’t believe that in a real context somebody would stay any longer inside that house because he/she would be scared of the past! We didn’t sleep looking at the movie knowing it was all fake… can you imagine if you really did experience that horror? Could you stay there? I couldn’t… it can happen only in a book…
Then, if you read the book, you really get the impression that Chris and Rags were still living there…

Oh yes but I can’t read that post because I am not registered… Generally I get totally frustrated althouth you wll always find people with different opinions…
But when it gets too much, I react… I asked for example Amazon to delete a bad and false review about Kate Bush and … they did it!

Well, I think she looked very strange and spooky like some kind of dools, but you know… this is a very personal point of view…
Looking at your video I have to think how much I missed in the Exorcist the fact that you can’t see the phenomena from Regan’s own view… I don’t know how to explain it better in English…

When I say strange I don’t mean it in a negative way… on the opposite… she was looking very interesting, much more than Linda. But if she had played Regan probably she would have took that kind of realism away, even if she had played naturally… Linda was looking just like a normal child, Nicoletta was looking too special and mysterious.

Maybe… besides wasn’t Nicoletta too young for the part??? She was born in 1964… they shoot the movie when she was about 7-8…

Sometimes when I go back to the side, I just clic the history on my browser… and I suppose if I choose the one where I wrote the answer, I get the double post.

Thanks Blizzi. A thing I would like to change is the order of the pages… it would be better to get the last answers in the first page and the first in the last…
