ParticipantYes, I meant the the original version of the Exorcist where the title card says, “GEORGETOWN.” In the new version, you hear an airplane sound effect, same as when Fr. Karras is talking to another priest as Ms. McNeil passes by and catches some of the conversation. It's just something I noticed and that's why I brought it up. Not important.

ParticipantI meant the first theatrical run of THE EXORCIST. The new version has the airplane sound effect. I know many new sounds and music was also added in the new version.

ParticipantInteresting subject. Let me add some apples into the basket and say that the drawings of the owls is a foreshadowing. Owls can turn their heads completely around just like the demon Reagan. Go figure.

ParticipantThe demon face. If you want to give her credit then go ahead. In the movie, looks like a new image made just for the movie. HOW YOU LIKE THEM APPLES?

ParticipantLet’s timestamp all the movies from the 70’s. It’s fine the way it is. I like the idea of a timestamp if they make a new version, so we know what month and how long the exorcism will occur and finish. The new Hulk movie had a time reference going on which was interesting. It told us how long he didn’t change into the hulk. But if you put a timestamp then it begins to look like it’s suppose to be factual like it really happened then the illusion is lost, especially for a movie like the Exorcist.

ParticipantI was able to see the Regan display back in the early 90’s at the museum of moving picture. It was in a case, the dummy looked small to me, the wig on the dummy, looked blondish to me, the face was very small. I read somewhere, the original dummy was destroyed, so the one you see in Astoria, Queens is just to look at. Other displays I saw was the wolf head from the movie Wolfen. They also had a costume display with Sean Connery’s uniform from THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER. Eddie Murpy’s clothes from BEVERLY HILLS COP. The dummy is shown with Dick Smith in the Fear of God documentary, that’s the one I saw. Back then, people were taking pictures, no guard was around when I was there, so I guess things changed over the years. I do have a nice pic I took of another Regan dummy that was used at an exhibit for a haunted house that came to my city one Halloween season. The heads spins around and she is sittin in front of a priest that is laying on the ground. I will share this one as soon as I can scan it.

ParticipantThe picture of Regan’s dad is actually Jason Miller’s old college pic. Just kidding. If you look closely it does look like him, a foreshadowing? I was curious and enlarged the pic to fullscreen, the pic of Howard almost looks like it’s wearing the Captain Howdy make-up, especially the eyes. I’m not trying to create something here, but enlarge the pic to fullscreen, you’ll see what I mean. It looks like he’s missing eyebows and the mouth is a bit twisted. I was looking at the figurines by the picture, it has a Charlie Brown bobble head, but the head is completely turned around, that’s what I thought I saw. I looked closely, it’s facing normal and it’s just a statue and Snoopy is at the other end of the picture frame, next to a toy giraffe. Go figure.

ParticipantHuman diaper, forget about it. Yes, I wrote it wrong, sorry. One person who didn’t think that Regan was no longer human was Karl. Remember the great line. “It wants no straps.” Happy Thanksgiving to all the Howdians. Sorry for the human diaper line, If you wanna blame somebody, go pick on the Dominicans.

ParticipantI just got my copy at Barnes and Noble in New York. The possessed Regan on the bed figurine is gonna cost 40 dollars retail price from what I read in the article. I prefer the Regan figurine on the cover than the pic of a painting of Regan.

ParticipantI went on YouTube and found the Dick Smith videos there. They are in seven parts, running 30 minutes or less for each video. It looks like the videos from the website that doesn’t exist anymore. He’s wearing the same shirt, so it’s probably from that website where he discusses the Exorcist special effects. The video quality is nice and clear. Just type Dick Smith in search box at YouTube. Happy hunting, my fellow howdians.

ParticipantIf you go to the image gallery in this website, click on the exorcist then scroll all the way down, the pic of Regan with fangs is next to the captain howdy pic, its pic number 221 jpg.

ParticipantI can’t find the link anymore. It was posted in the forum section somewhere. I also found another site that features the Exorcist stair videos, shot by tourists. Assorted videos there at brightcove.com
