KeymasterWell spotted, thanks for sharing.
Even if just a coincidence, it fits Karras' character in that moment so perfectly.
That things such as this are still being found after all these years astounds me. (Having 1080p blu-rays certainly helps!)

KeymasterI'd been looking for this speech for a long time as well. Glad to have finally seen it.

KeymasterJagged, try viewing via the main page instead of this forum.
There's an issue with some images formatting on this forum (updating very soon).

KeymasterOkay it should be resolved now! Thanks again for letting me know and please post if you notice anything else. New forum layout is still on the way.

Keymaster…Proving trickier than first expected. Typical.

KeymasterThanks for pointing this out– I just noticed it myself. Seems something messed with the code during a recent update.
I'm currently working on a fix.

Keymasteryes, there was a limited edition dvd set like this with a film cell. Somewhere on the boxset linda blair signed only 25 of these in gold ink
for example, one box set would say linda blair in gold ink along with 10/25 in gold ink. i saw one of these sets on ebay last year and it sold for around $400.
extremely rare horror collectible

KeymasterRather sneaky of them to jack the price back up at the time of release.

KeymasterInteresting. I wonder if other international releases will do the same?

KeymasterI believe that's a double from Exorcist II: The Heretic, not Eileen performing in The Exorcist.

I do prefer the soundtrack on TVYNS, though. Far more evocative and atmospheric. That subtle, portentous aural piece as Kinderman and Karras discuss the desecration and Denning's murder is especially welcome.
Interesting topic, Teddy. I find the added soundtrack in that particular scene completely takes me out of the moment. It's one of the many reasons I'm not a fan of TVYNS/EDC.
The scene plays perfectly in the original cut. Deliberate pacing is aided by the natural sounds that surround them while they walk and talk. The back-and-forth of the tennis training as they pass the courts parallels their back-and-forth discussion; the wind that swirls through the trees of the university brings a sullen atmosphere against up-beat, competitive students training in the background.
These elements combine to create an all-natural and subtle atmospheric 'drone' which is in-keeping with the documentary style of the entire film. I find the addition of unnecessary strings drown out these natural cues, causing the scene to play more forced and, ironically, less atmospheric.
It's all there in their amazing performances. It can be seen on their faces. A synthetic drone to indicate to the audience something eerie is being discussed is detrimental to what was a perfect scene.
Just my thoughts, of course. I invite interesting discussions like this as I like hearing how other people perceive different versions of The Exorcist. I am fascinated by a generation that has only known 'The Version You've Never Seen' and modern-day horror.
Don't even get me started on the spiderwalk scene…

KeymasterThat shit makes my head hurt.
Must. Rise. Above it.

KeymasterIt makes zero sense for The Exorcist to be converted to 3D. For the same reasons Jagged already mentioned, it isn't the type of film 3D is intended for.

KeymasterI wish I could plonk down the money for this. Still good to have this digital image, at the very least. Great find, father_k, and welcome to the forums.

KeymasterNice work, and welcome to the forums.
Your explanation for using that scene as inspiration certainly helped make sense of the poster. As an overall piece to be hypothetically used to promote The Exorcist, I'm not sure it would reach out beyond fans of the film, which it'd be expected to do.
Apart from that, I really like what you've done with it. I think it has great tone and sets a sullen mood.
