Yes we can. And what if he did come out with a new book in this age and day? Do you think it would make best-sellers? Look at what happeaned to the vampires on the best-sellers list. They have to sparkle to be there. Would the demon have to puke rainbows and unicorns?
Exactly – reader expectation has become somewhat jaded…

I hate how people think that Kinderman “murdered” Karras at the end. The ONLY reason why kinderman wanted to euthanize him was to make sure that Damien's soul reaches Heaven, free from anymore demonic forces and forever in the loving, nurtring arms of The Lord.
But who would play Kinderman?
Golly, WHY don't people get it?? First, they think in The Exorcist, Karras committed suicide; then, in Legion, they think Kinderman murdered Karras. Shocking examples of inattention to the obvious 🙁
I don't know who would play Kinderman – he has to be able to balance superlogical/Sherlock Holmes with homey, schmalzy Jewishness – as Lee J. Cobb did so admirably. Maybe Dustin Hoffman – seriously, he can really act, he is, like the Kinderman character, an older person, and he could do the “brilliant but corny Jewish detective” easily.

ParticipantYeah, this is a place for people who really respect the film and related material, much differerent from many other public boards, newsgroups, forums, etc. 🙂

ParticipantI Always thought the house itself could be the catalyst for a very chilling sequel. With the kind ofnevil that permeated that room, it doesn’t seem a far leap to imagine it remaining a very dark and sinister place that no one lives in for very long. Not a possession story as much as a haunted house story….

ParticipantYes, that might work :)Â A haunted MacNeil house would be unsetlling…

I've always remembered that too. Was that something spoken by some well-known theologian, or just a bit of greeting card wisdom?

ParticipantSorry, I am not sure. But it does sound a lot like typical Saint-citation to me. It may go back to a real person, or it may just be a summary of the Catholic poverty ethic.

ParticipantI know Paul Morning was added for the film. I might like the analogies to Merrin. However I wished there was more character building with him. I was hoping there was some connection between him and the toriginal exorcism or at least put some side plot tying him into it besides that his hair turned white from an exorcism in the Phillippines. His character just didn't have much substance or enough interaction with other characters in the story.

ParticipantWould have been nice if Kinderman had actually had a chance to meet Morning… iirc, Kinderman makes a phone call to Morning, but can't get through. Had Williamson been available for extensive shooting, some of his background could have been brought out in a conversation with Kinderman…
