ParticipantHello, I'm news here, I'm a big horror movies fans, and specially about the Exorcist, I love Captain Howdy website, it's really a amazing work.
Â
I have found a link with the description of the dialogue Version soundtrack LP…I'm not sure if it's a fake done by or something real (sorry if it have been already posted).

“Year : 1974?
Style : Soundtrack, spoken word, avant-garde/classical, horror
Info : Mega rare white label promo only original soundtrack LP, an alternate version containing dialogue from the film and rumoured to not even exist, but here it is!
This was never released due to Mercedes McCambridge (the voice of the demon) filing a lawsuit against the director William Friedkin for excluding her name from the credits, and the legal proceedings caused by this at the time made the release of a soundtrack album with voice snippets impossible.
This album actually differs quite a lot from the slightly later normal released version (which contained just music), and is not just music from the soundtrack with dialogue in between! The first track is the same but the second track is the original Mike Oldfield version of Tubular Bells and not the Mystic Sounds version. After that comes two dialogue tracks with hints of music, then 'Polymorphia' like the normal release but with dialogue at the start. Side 2 is mostly purely dialogue with just short hints of music in the background for the first five tracks, then like the normal LP has as its last track 'Fantasia For Strings'.
Comes in original picture sleeve which is almost identical to the full release except that the catalogue number is different (the catalogue number for the normal release was K 56071), and Tubular Bells is credited 'Courtesy of Virgin Records' instead of Mystic Sounds. Also has original plain paper inner sleeve.
Has plain white labels and the catalogue number stamped in the run-off grooves on both sides (K 56031 A1 / K 56031 B1).
Vinyl has only been played a handful of times and is mostly in near mint condition. There is a tiny light blemish at the start of 'Tubular Bells' on side 1 causing some slight ticks during the intro, although i guess we've all heard that song a lot anyway! There is also a similar mark at the start of track five on side 2, which again causes some slight ticks at the start of the track. Otherwise plays through very smoothly with virtually no deterioration in sound quality. It does sound slightly quieter than the normal release, so was maybe never properly mastered?
Sleeve in excellent- condition with just a bit of light/mild storage wear.
Inner sleeve in excellent condition.
An extremely rare and collectable LP and i would guess there are only a handful in existence, so you're not likely to see another one any time soon..!
*ADDED BONUS*
As an added bonus for Exorcist fans/collectors i am throwing in a bizarre 'Anti-Exorcist' leaflet which was handed out outside some UK cinemas by religious types when the film was first being shown, warning of the psychological dangers of watching the film and giving a phone number to call if you felt disturbed by the film and needed spiritual help! (see pictures below)
I am selling lots more rare soundtrack/film/ost records in the next few weeks so please check my other auctions and ebay shop..!”Â
I have a question about this LP…are we sure that this LP have really been planned by Warner ? I find weird that Enter the Dragon by the same studio don't have any dialogue for his LP during the same year….what the source of this rumour about the dialogue LP of the exorcist ? I have found just a book about Mc Cambridge career, but nothing official… Thanks for advance for the answer (and sorry for my bad english)…
Ithink a lawsuit between Warner/Mc Cambridge couldn't have changed nothing for what I know, the dialogue of this movies are the property of Warner Bros like an original work, like the Lalo Schifrin work for this movie.
