What do you mean by that, Cap? Have you seen any of the remaning cut scenes?

There are no more cut scenes, just stock footage as I understand it. There is no reason why it should all be locked away when Exorcist fans are dying to see it before it erodes or is forgotten after a remake… *touches wood*

“There are no more cut scenes”

But the stills I posted above prove those scenes were filmed, and it’s in the novel. The ‘funny noises’ sequence was on Blatty’s first draft screenplay too.

The original scene before Ellen investigates the attic was cut because producer John Calley felt the sequence was repetitive and unneeded. Arrgg!![upset] What a silly man lol.

John Calley was right and correct in removing the scene. Aside from the secnes you have mentioned (which STILL might be hard to find actual cut versions of), there is only raw footage remaining – no scenes actually cut together.

This is how I understand it, anyway. We will never actually know until they open that vault.

Ah, but that’s your opinion. I’m entitled to mine, and to me he wasn’t right. I love that passage in the novel.

I just want to see the footage so badly!

What kind of updates were you referring to, Cap?

Mr. Blatty, if you read this, I’ve been wanting to watch ‘The trip to Washington’ scene for so long. I don’t care that the sound is missing, I just want to see the footage. PLEASE, please, please put it on the extras section of a new special edition DVD!
