ParticipantI forgot to mention the decapitation scene….I literally LAUGHED OUT LOUD at it….it reminded me of something out of a “Monty Python” film.

ParticipantI thought it was better than the original. The only thing I didn’t like was casting Julia Stiles as Damien’s mother – that was…just stupid.
Mia Farrow was good enough I thought, not as half as creepy as the nanny from the original that’s for sure.Blah, I still can’t get over seeing Julia Stiles as the mother..lol..she looks 15! O_o

ParticipantJulia Stiles looks 15….that is a definite fact.

KeymasterNo Ave Satani theme? I was hoping they would use the Gregorian cover of it for the new movie.

ParticipantYeah, a guest –
Stepping into Jerry Goldsmith’s shoes would be a huge task for any film composer. So far, I’ve only heard bad things about the new musical score – it’s been called not scary and mediocre. I like to see new music for new movies, but in this case maybe Jerry’s original themes should have been used. Apparently that’s what’s with the new Superman movie – the new composer is using John Williams’ original themes for the new movie.

Participanti am of the same opinion, you are never gonna beat the origianl for chills. for starters it did,nt have the creepy score of the original, although there were a couple of hints of it in the film if you were paying attention, and as for the nanny not even close to the menace of the original mrs baylock, but i did think the dream sequences were good!

ParticipantThe film was OK, but the original is better… though I still think the casting of Damien was perfect (and better than the original Damien).

ParticipantI thought the dream sequences were kinda..lame, but that’s just me. They were too predictable and teeny bopper-ish IMO

ParticipantI did not think I would see a remake of a classic horror worse than Bay’s “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003” so soon. I did now, with this year’s “0men” – “0” being far too high of a rating for this miserable antifilm.

Participantwoah… The Omen remake WASN’T bad. Maybe in YOUR opinion it was bad, but you didn’t SEE a bad movie – you THOUGHT it was bad 😉 just like with TCM remake…

ParticipantYou’re so funny Justy 😛 nah.. you’re the one in love with the bot 😛
He wasn’t stating an opinion..he was saying the movie was bad – when it wasn’t. A movie just is. It isn’t bad, it isn’t good…some people like it, some don’t (up to them). I think people really need to learn that just coz they don’t like something it doesn’t make it bad.
Sorry, but it pisses me right off 😛

ParticipantDidn’t dislike the “Omen” remake…it was, afterall a close copy. The leads seemed to young for the roles, like the casting of “Superman Returns”. The Omen I want to see is the goofy tv series pilot about the spirit of Damien possessing people by way of ectoplasmic barf. That’s entertainment!

ParticipantI only saw this the other week and I really liked it. I agree that Julia Stiles was miscast and just too young. I also agree there was some ‘nicking from other films’ going on. Did anyone make the connection with The Sixth Sense tho? I got it in the first half hour so kinda ruined the rest of the film with the obvious sign posts. Not bad for a remake tho. And sorry, but I quite liked the TCM remakes!

ParticipantI was surprised at how gruesome the TCM remake was…a lot of mainstream pics have been pulling away from graphic goreover the past decade. Even the 3 & 4th installments of TCM were light on genuine chainsaw action. TCM remake scored points with me just for having the guts to show a few amputative moments.
