These films are nothing short of brilliance. I want them all!

Got it… It’s still terrible (not only as a film :)). Yes, it is a bit sharper, but it’s still an awful transfer from a VHS tape that seems to have been stored for 20 years in a meat freezer. The opening is different, for some reason – the “demonic” face and the credits are replaced by something that almost defies belief, even in this film: firstly, there is a zoom on a VHS box of “Seytan”, and then the hand-held camera shows hand-written credits on shaking pieces of paper. Unbelievable…

Maybe it really is a parody…

I’m looking at what onarfilms.com is doing with those Turkish turkeys… and thinking of doing a CaptainHowdy DVD edition of Seytan… 🙂

The material that I have for potential extras so far includes… err… the poster. And subtitles. Which don’t match the new version’s timing. :

For anyone interested – “Seytan”, the classic Turkish film remade by William Friedkin as “The Exorcist”, appeared a while ago on the newsgroup alt.binaries.multimedia.horror – in what seems to be a new (and still awful :)) translation. The quality is still terrible, too – I believe they all come from the same source – but it may have gone through some filtering, as the contrast seems a little better in what I remember in the older versions. Or maybe I’m just seeing things.
