KeymasterI believe these items are in private possession (pardon the pun…).

ParticipantLOL, Cap! The last place I remember exhibiting the Regan dummy is the Museum of the Moving Image here.
“She” has done a lot of traveling in the U.S., including the Smithsonian Institute. I can’t remember if I saw the dummy there or NY Met. (That was a hundred years ago).
I’d search Google to find Regan’s newest home in a glass box. 🙂

ParticipantI also did hear that it was on display somewhere. Not sure where though. Not much help I know.

KeymasterHmmm we should try and keep track of her! Plot her path on Google Maps or something.
*Geeks it up*

ParticipantI love the idea, Cap! Ghetto, I’m sure that she’s out there somewhere. God help us that she’s in a Planet Hollywood restaurant! 😉

ParticipantA restaurant? Not sure I’d find that a very appetizing piece.

ParticipantPlanet Hollywood restaurant in Vegas. They have a stairwell of horror memorabilia that are real gross outs; i.e., Kathy Bate’s battered head after her head hits the typewriter in the movie Misery. The restaurant is kind enough to put the gross stuff on display in the waiting areas. There’s nothing like looking at a gory corpse from Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses, just before you chow down on a rare steak! 😉

ParticipantI’m pretty sure the dummy still resides with Dick Smith and gets lent out every now and again.

ParticipantCan you image in Dick Smith has that in his house??? FREAKY!

ParticipantI just had to join the Captain Howdy forums and put to rest all the speculation. I can confirm, without a doubt, that the Regan dummy does, in fact, reside at The American Museum Of The Moving Image located in Astoria Queens, New York. At least it/she was there in autumn 2007 when I visited specifically just to see it/her.
If I remember correctly the placard nearby stated that it/she was displayed on (permanent?) loan from Dick Smith himself! There was also a small TV screen playing a loop of the head spinning scene during the exorcism. I guess it was supposed to provide a point of reference for the uninitiated viewing the dummy, but all it did was emphasize how much time had passed since The Exorcist was made.
I must say, it was a bit disappointing. Cool, but not quite what I expected. I thought it would bring the movie to life even more and perhaps scare me (THAT FACE!) a bit, but time has not been kind to the dummy. It/she looked awfully faded and really quite artificial. The skin was almost too tan and, aside from the facial details and the night gown, everything kind of blended together color-wise. I wish I could explain what I saw better. I’d post a picture but photography was strictly forbidden – I couldn’t even sneak a picture on my cell phone because the dummy was situated near the entrance to that floor’s collection of props and there was a guard standing a bit too close for comfort. Damn.
The whole experience was oddly surreal. Disappointment or not, I’m glad I finally got to see the Regan dummy. It’s definitely worth checking out.
Peace,

ParticipantI always could tell the difference between the Dummy and Linda fully possessed something about those lifeless eyes on that dummy just terrify me. It would be very interesting to see it in person.

KeymasterGhetto, you ALWAYS could, or you just now only see the dummy since you learned that’s what was used? I’m the same…

ParticipantCool … I had one fact correct with link I added above. Welcome Get2Me.

ParticipantCaptain,
I always knew that a dummy was used but for example in alot of magazines they will show a picture like this one
And say that is Linda Blair from the Exorcist but it is clearly a picture of the dummy that was used. You can tell by the eyes just so lifeless and even creepier than Linda is full possessed makeup.
February 7, 2009 at 11:59 PM #21683Witch of Endor
ParticipantHmmm. Interesting philosophical question: If the dummy used the likeness of Linda Blair does that mean that a likeness of the of the dummy is a likeness of Linda? Ie: Is a picture of the dummy then a picture of Blair?
