Why it happens is a good question. Presumably the invading demon is displaying its power, again presumably to impress, dominate and terrify the witnesses. Paranormal stuff purportedly happens in all three stages of possession – infestation, obsession, possession. Perhaps it is all deliberate action on the demon’s part. Maybe some of it is just something that happens as part of the demon’s nature.

Anybody else have suggestions?

Incidently… does anyone know how this effect was achieved? It looks too polished to be keyed over in any way. With all the information available on the making of the film this is one area that’s never mentioned…

Whats up everyone, I am new to the site but have been a fan of The Exorcist for years. It is definitly by far the best horror movie ever. I do have a question though about the scene during the exorcism where the straps on Regans arms tear and her eyes get glossy and she starts to float over the bed. I have a couple of ideas of why it is happening but I’m not definitly sure. I was just wondering what you guys think about it.
