ParticipantAs long as any or all of the above AREN’T EXCLUSIVELY on the “new wave” (ie. Blu Ray and HD-DVD, etc), hey, I’d be interested!
HD-DVD and BLU-RAY are so unneeded (by not just me!), it’s obscene. 😐
As for the idea of a special edition of THE EXORCIST III, it would have to be anything and everything Morgan Creek would bestow for the film that was seen in theatres in August of 1990; meaning, and unfortunately, NOT the LOST cut, the original version, the thoroughly wonder-provoking one that apparently exists in an unfinished form on a VHS tape belonging to Mr. Blatty himself. At this point, I would, however, love to see video interview included where Blatty going into considerable detail about his lost film. That would be all I’d personally ask or hope for, in the event of a special edition. 🙂

ParticipantI think all the films deserve a special edition. There needs to be a definitive box set, not just the same old bare DVDs thrown in a badly photoshopped box. And they need to throw as much stuff on it as possible before it is all lost. They could have new documentaries made for each film (would love to see some mini ones done for the troubles behind making Legion, Dominion & ETB), with cast/crew interviews etc. Behind the scenes footage, deleted scenes, parodies (like what was on the Titanic collector’s edition – there’s MANY Exorcist ones that could be put on there) whatever can be found, basically.
What would be really cool is if they did something like Peter Jackson’s King Kong Diaries for each film. They could get the cast/crew in to talk about everything, showing all the behind the scenes footage from the archives.
OK – I know that will never happen, but one can dream.

ParticipantI have to admit that I havn’t moved onto the HD and Blueray discs, I just dont have that kind of money for either player, But It would be great to see all the Exorcist films get put on these formats as well as an additional dvd release with. I would Love to see all cut footage availeble of each movie on disc even if its just bounus material,
the first Exorcist has defenetly gotten the best dvd treatment, but I think there is still more to present for that film, I would be nice to have some bonus features for Exorcist 2, and a Comentary by Boorman.
Exorcist 3 needs Special treatment bigtime, What ever footage exists of the original version, with Comentary by Blatty, interviews etc.
As for the prequels, I think the beginning should get an uncut version with all trailers and tv spots inclueded, I saw a vcd of an Uncut Version of ETB on an asian website, but I don’t know whats in it.
DOMINION obviously needs at least a 2 disc release like the dutch dvd, but even more, Morgan Creeck,WbB or Whoever, needs to finish this Damn Film And Actually give it a Real post Production, Finish all the Digitakl Shit Properly, Have an entirely original Score Done for the Film, Put back some of the deleted scenes and Lines, Give Fair treatment, and Please take “PREQUEL TO THE EXORCIST” out of the opening title.December 29, 2006 at 11:59 PM #16143Jason Stringer
KeymasterI would rather a bumper-pack all-time huge best-ever ultimate special edition of the original Exorcist – packed with absolutely everything you could desire – before worrying about any special editions for the lesser sequels.

ParticipantYes, I don’t see why someone would want to see a special edition for Exorcist II, but I do admit wanting to see what the Dutch got on those 2 discs for Dominion. Everything we wanted for The Exorcist including the full Fear of God doc, the E! THS doc, the old ’73 interviews, etc. would be nice. Jaws got something like that for their 30th anniversary, so something for Exorcist should be a natural choice. Something as in the case for the Jaws 2 special edition might be ok for the better sequels, but what Exorcist follow-ups merit a special edition considering none of them have proven substantial in history’s eyes like many believe Jaws 2 has and therefore has received a decent SE with docs and all?

ParticipantFriends,
So my question is… shall I start a petition for a special edition of Exorcist 3 / Legion at http://www.PetitionOnline.com?
🙂Cheers & God Bless

ParticipantI don’t know if it would be the best idea to do it yet, since we don’t wanna take any focus from WB putting together an ultimate edition of the original film.

ParticipantIt would be really interesting to see a brand new cut of Exorcist III. I have always felt this was such a good flick and had potential to be a great flick. We have been denied anything remotely related to Exorcist III i.e deleted scenes, behind the scenes footage, hell even a friggin commentary. I also wouldn’t mind seeing a new cut of The Heretic. I might be one of those few people who believe there is a decent flick in there. Of course I would love a balls to the wall Alien Quadrilogy type Exorcist boxset with so much extras that I yell “STOP IT” at the tv. Lets start the petition!!!

KeymasterBenocles_Czar, I agree with Justin. As I said before, while Legion is (arguably) the best of the sequels, I think fans would prefer an ‘ultimate’ edition of The Exorcist first and foremost. This is also more likely to occur with the profitability of The Exorcist.
A push for an ultimate box set of The Exorcist is something I want http://www.CaptainHowdy.com to be officially behind and I have made arrangements to start a campaign through this site and its dedicated members later in January.

ParticipantYes, I think you should do that too.

ParticipantIf there’s ever been a franchise (much as I hate using that tacky word) more deserving of at least a decked-out boxed set of such extras, AFTER the Alien series and Star Wars, of course, it would HAVE TO BE this one.
In my agreeable opinion! 😛

KeymasterMike, I think fans of Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, James Bond, Spider-Man, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Silence of the Lambs/The Lecter’s etc may debate they have better sequels and therefore are more deserving of ultimate box sets. 😉
But I see your point and agree with you – an Exorcist ultimate box set would be great.
However we don’t want to scare the studios off. I believe we will have much more success convincing them to deliver a mammoth DVD pack devoted to just the original (which is just about the only safe-bet profit-wise).

ParticipantAgreed Captain. Usually “ultimate” boxsets are for movie trilogies or sagas that are usuall continually good. The first Exorcist film is the only film worth an ultimate edition. I would like to see the other features I stated in a previous post but I would sacrifice all of that for one balls out ultimate 2 or 3 disc set for the first one.
