Despite everything that has been said, I think RatBoy’s review has finally convinced me not to waste my money and see Rob Zombie’s ‘Halloween’ remake.
I’m not too keen on remakes of classic horror movies anyway – I refused to see ‘Black Christmas’ last year so I guess I should rely on my gut instinct and take the same approach for this one.

Everything Ratboy has said still stands with the final cut of the film. Apart from the parts which refer to the scenes no longer present, of course.
But in the end it all comes down to opinion, so there’s no point at all getting nasty and arguing about it.
They were two different movies. From the feel of the ending to some of the classic scenes from the original not being in the workprint, to his motivations for doing what he ended up doing.
In the workprint you ended up feeling some sympathy for him while in the release he ended being evil through and through.
Two different movies regardless if you thought they were both shit or not.
For the record I don’t care how anyone feels about any movie or director. As long as I like or dislike it any other opinion is useless to me.
I loved “30 Days of Night” even though it got reviewed shitty. Their loss not mine.
To me this case would be the same as someone reviewing The Exorcist but really reviewing Saytan……….

I understand you were upset, but just because someone disagrees with you or offers a solid argument (despite his own jabs) it isn’t worth snapping back at. I guess my ultimate problem with this thread is that it was started under the pretense of scrutinizing personal likes. Just don’t let any of that get to you. Both of you give valid points and that is all. I’ve never understood the somewhat childish attitude to people having to denounce each other because of a lack of agreement or opinions on a given subject.
So hopefully, we can move on. And you guys can agree that you disagree. 🙂

as a person who enjoyed Zombie’s first 2 movies, loves the Halloween series, and has seen both workprint and Theatrical versions of the remake I must say that everythign said by Rat is correct, though teh workprint is actually a better version than the theatrical, it still sucks.
I went tosee it with a few Halloween fans and afterwords we all agreed that Halloween 9 would have been better, and if Moustapha Akkad were alive the remake wouldnt’ exist.
