Yeah it would just be two movie-length episodes like a normal mini series – NOT a 22 episode 30 minute series like you might be thinking.

For reference: The Shining mini series remake.

I keep hearing whispers about this actually being green lit.

I don’t see how you can make a TV series out of The Exorcist either. Every episode would be about either an exorcism or some spiritual/metaphysical thing, which would be excrutingly predictable. Since exorcisms are supposed to be very rare, the show’s credibility would also go out the window. The closest show that came to that (not the X-Files) was Kolchak: The Night Stalker from the 70’s, which wasn’t that great anyway.

    Hmmm…
Although, she would be recognized immediately.

Constantine and Hellboy are interchangable in so many ways, incidentally. Now their comic book roots, on the other hand… dynomite and memorable!

I actually liked Constantine and Hellboy. I also like The Exorcist, sure Constantine and Hellboy are not as carefully made like The Exorcist. But they are entertaining all the same…Constantine is not about a Exorcisms or a Priest losing his faith like The Exorcist…. sure it has a Exorcism but it’s not used as the main event like The Exorcist, the Exorcism in Constantine is used as a introduction for the character John Constantine and I don’t even think Hellboy is in the same ballpark as The Exorcist. It has a Demon in it but it’s more about the supernatural rather than a Exorcism or God, it doesn’t even have a Exorcism in it.
Case and point: Constantine & Hellboy were never trying to be like or relate to The Exorcist but should be looked at as a separate movie. Rather than compared to The Exorcist, just because they have a Crucifix in them does not mean that they are trying to take something from The Exorcist

I remember hearing about an Exorcist Tv remake/mini-series to be directed by Blatty, but that was before TVYNS came out, I would halfway be interested in seeing it, but only if Blatty directed it or had full creative controll over it, My only casting preferences would be Max Von Sydow(again) Or Stellan Skarsgard as Merrin, but thats just wishful thinking.

Movies about exorcisms are rubbish (lately). Case in point: Constantine.

Uh Captain, Constantine isn’t about exorcisms. I think the only exorcism is in the first couple of minutes and lasts seconds?

Constantine wasn’t an appropriate adaptation of Alan Moore’s comics anyway. I remember my best friend and I (where we were the only people in the whole theatre) laughed uproariously when the bewitched Mexican got hit by the car in slow motion and lived. My friend suddenly exclaimed, “Rewind that!” It was just that kind of movie unfortunately.

Movies like Constantine do make a mockery out of the serious spiritual subjects that The Exorcist delves into, so in a sense we have to wait until this comic book take on spiritual subjects goes away first so that the realistic nature of doing a miniseries can be credible again.

“If” there is a remake? What’s this “if” nonsense:

But seriously, 21% answered “yes”! Where are they? Come out, ye rotten, miserable scoundrels! Own up, and receive thy punishment from The Man: http://tinyurl.com/j4lsh

…And they can’t get Jason Miller (who’s passed away) or his boy Jason Patric (who may not be acting anymore; mightn’t he be dead, too? I sure hope not. Too tragic, death is.) to play Damien Karras, they should try to get Johnny Cash (who’s not only too old, but passed away) or maybe Joaquin Phoenix (who looks a lot like Johnny Cash, but may be too afraid of playing someone that Johnny Cash might’ve played if he’d ever had the chance).

Yeah, so, I guess the most likely is… Joaquin Phoenix. He’d get my vote. Him, or Benicio Del Toro (he’s got the haggard, tough guy-priest look)… assuming they don’t want to get a no-name, or inexplicably mesh the likeness of Jason Miller with the wonders of Computer Graphics.

    Thoughts?

please God i hope a remake is never attempted in my lifetime , there are few re-makes thet are ever any good, if fact i cannot think of any bar hammer’s Dracula!!.
Lets pray the studios never throw their money at a re-make surley the last 2 follow ups were quite enough to discourage anyone from such a ridiculous idea.
