KeymasterI don’t believe the Creek will make another sequel. They’ve been badly burnt by their attempts at creating a new story/film. If anything – my bet is on a remake, or as they call it now, a re-imaging. It’s an easy way to make easy money in the theaters.

ParticipantI think that it’s more likely to see a aremake but I certainly don’t want one, and if it was made please don’t let Morgan Creek do it and please don’t Let the people who did the TCM, Amityville,Omen remakes be involved, although TCM remake was ok.
Money is the only reason to remake the Exorcist, thats not a good enough reason for meAugust 8, 2006 at 11:59 PM #15478granville1
ParticipantThe “franchise” has pretty much been wrung dry. I wouldn’t put it past someone to develop a story based on a tangential character, say, Father Paul Morning from E3: Legion. The story, of course, would depict the exorcism in which Morning’s hair “turned white overnight”. They could suggest that Morning is a student, follower, disciple of Merrin. That would add, umm, “resonance” and “depth” to the narrative. Oh. Yuck.

KeymasterI thought Fr. Morning died in E3?

ParticipantYes, Morning died in E3 but the subject of this thread is future sequels/PREQUELS, and my “screenplay suggestion” was for a PREQUEL detailing Morning’s prior exorcism (as described by the University President in E3) that “turned Morning’s hair white overnight”. The fact that Father Morning died in E3 is irrelevant to a prequel, just as the fact that Father Merrin died in The Exorcist is irrelevant to the three prequels (Heretic, Beginning, Dominion) in which he appears.

ParticipantSpecifically, let’s talk the possessed’s portion of the film — does he/she get worse or better or both as the story progresses?
I think the stark difference on the matter — between the Friedkin and Schrader films — is wonderful and ought not be repeated lest it risk mundane redundancy at best and becoming a laughable cartoon at worst (COFF–E:TB–COFF!).
So, who’s got some ideas? I think a sequel will happen (when Morgan Creek once again give in to the temptation to make “another one”). And since we know Morgan Creek doesn’t want another “Schrader movie”, what SHOULD or would they do? I think at some point, somebody there with half a brain will realize the importance of Schrader’s Dominion’s very backbone: The boy gets better gradually, and despite the possession. They’re gonna realize “enough’s enough!” with the innocent girl getting worse and worse while the clock runs.

ParticipantSorry missing this more than a year, but here’s my reply… 🙂
Hatty, loved your MVS/SS pic, maybe you could do such a pic combining Williamson and Skarsgard. Because, hey, why not? 😉 No pressure, though. 😀
