Yeah, no second head-revolving, please. That scene started grating on me about the third time I saw it. Yes, the first one works just after the crucifix-rape scene, because it’s from Chris’s POV, and it could be (as the book offers) a momentary shock-hallucination. But when it happens a second time and is witnessed by both Karras and Merrin, it just strikes me as overkill and unrealistic.

I would have liked to of seen more of the banter between the demon and karras in the film, some of the best mind game bits are in the book, and there is more of burke dennning speaking tho regan in the book.

Here’s an interesting question. First of all, if any of you have taken a good look at the actual script then this question might be interesting. If you have read the book and have a fair knowledge of the script (pretty close to TVYNS), then you can still answer this question.

What parts within the book that are not in the film would you have liked to possibly seen on screen? Not to judge against any of Friedkin’s and Blatty’s adaptation work; not at all. I’m curious as to what you guys think might have been intriguing to see done cinematically and how do you think Friedkin would have directed it? 🙂

The talking between karras and the demon is much better in the book about half of it is missing from the film.
