I asked Bill about the status of this yesterday, here is a small update on his part:

“The mini script is written, is light years better than my original film script, and Billy is still willing, but at the moment, with the economy and Hollywood in shambles, no big buyers have appeared. But as Regan/Demon says, “In time!””

    Hi strawberry, welcome! 🙂
If you look like my sim version of Regan of the novel , then you can have the part. 😀 But, I hope that they find an actual 11 year old girl to play it. Regan is eleven at the beginning of the novel/movie. Linda was 13/14 while filming so she didn’t look 11 to me.

“I agreed on Friedkin’s decisions to leave out certain elements that were in the book: the entire Elvira subplot, the actual exorcism lasting for days..”

I love the Elvira subplot. As Blatty says, it was intended to illustrate Merrin’s belief that out of evil comes good; for Kinderman’s investigation on Dennings’s murder results in Elvira ,heroin addict, at last being hospitalized and on the road to cure.
The exorcism lasted for two days. It actually began on a Friday the 13th! and it ended on Mother’s day.

Given more thought on this, I hope the makers go into this as simply another screen adaptation of the novel rather than a remaking the movie. I hope the director doesn't look to the movie for inspiration but rather his own fathful take from the novel. No tubular bells nor any icon locations from movie.

Of course I hope a succesfull mini-series will lead to a sequel mini-series adaptation of Legion and this time using the same actors as Kinderman and Dyer to better connect the two stories.

Not many people consider the RedDragon movie a remake of the first version that was made in the 80s with Brian Cox playing Hanibal Lecter but simply another screen adaption of the original novel.
