The Heretic definetly is not one of my favorite scenes, but ive always liked the african flashbacks, and the Church in that movie, When I first saw pics from the prequel a couple years ago, I saw the picture of Merrin and Francis in the Church, and at the Timwe I thought it was the same place, but obviously it turned out being something differn’t

WOW! I’m truly impressed. GOOD FIND! I had no idea the makers of THE HERETIC did their homework better than the makers of EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING, getting their Pazuzu iconography to be African and not Iraqi. I’m truly astounded. 😮

One more point for THE HERETIC. 😛

I don’t get it – how is the figure in Heretic identifiable as Pazuzu rather than some other African symbol? Pazuzu had only negative connotations to the African cliff church congregation. Why would they enshrine a demon in their church?

Excellent find hatter76. I’m not sure it’s enough to tempt me to watch that film again though:) Maybe I will, I haven’t seen it for about 10 years, maybe it’s not as bad as I remembered it… But I doubt it:)

You have a very good point granville, I wonderd abor that, but never the less it’s there! and there were many shots in the trailer for the Heretic that were never inthe movie, a real quick shot of the church crumbleing apart, a flash of A Reagan type Demone but with a distorted face, Im sure there were many things that never made it into the movie, I’ll post some shots.

I agree, Hatter, the resemblance ‘twixt the Heretic icon and the Dominion Pazuzu is uncanny… I just wonder why Boorman put the icon in the Christian cliff church… maybe another unsolved Exorcist mystery.

Hatter, thanks too for the tinypic of the face. I wonder what other stuff never made it into the theatrical release of Heretic. For that matter, from the great “morphing” trailer of E3-Legion, posted by Cap’n Howdy, I wonder what stuff didn’t make it into *that* film (foggy cemetary, the Gemini’s cell at the *end* of the psych ward corridor, making it resonate with Regan’s room at the end of the hallway, etc.)…

As far as The Heretic is concerned Maybe Boorman was drunk!
as for Legion, If there is not a petition to Get The Orignal Version Released, There needs to be, Ive herd befor that The Footage is in bad shape or no longer Exisits, I Don’t buy that.

Blatty should reshoot it! Sure, Miller, Flanders and Scott are dead, but it might be worth it to get an unadulterated Legion out of WPB before it’s too late…

Thanks, M.I.K.E., yeah, WPB is getting a bit old but who knows, maybe he’s got the stamina to do it, or at least to write a perfected screenplay and give it to the right producers…

THAT’S IT! That’s a great idea! How realistic, given Blatty’s age, I don’t know. But I bet he might very well be interested in such, certainly that such an idea MAY have occurred to him.

That’s very interesting! Who would’ve thought that the African Pazuzu would be found there? The placement of it there is very odd as people have noted.

And Justin, that Regan possessed shot of Heretic is in that first teaser trailer in quick cuts when they mention Linda Blair’s name. 🙂
