Hi Fatherbowdern, I think the sauerkraut was the breath. The demon, after having a loud diarrhoeic “business” (LOL I forgot the term in English, sorry), asks Karras if he is disturbed by that. Karras admits he is.

I never saw the German parody on youtube.
You could see Regan on the bed and hear the sounds you can imagine.

One question I have always wondered is why did being possessed make Regan sick in the sense of having diarrhoea and vomiting?

I think in the book it says she did, and in the film, while the doctor is speaking to her under hypnosis, Chris holds her nose, and the two back away.
