I’m a year late to you too, but I think you have this scene confused with the first scene where she flipped out on the doctors after her eyes went white and her throat bulged. These were two separate occurrences. There weren’t any doctors in the house at all for the head turning/crucifix scene.

This is the crucifix scene. In the book, Karl was up there this was pre-straps, so he took a beating. The book mentions Chris seeing Karl lying on the floor when she first walks in and Regan is acting all Inappropriate.
