ParticipantI have a ton of old autographed pics from just about every major player from The Exorcist. I refuse to scan in the one of Eileen Dietz in the Captain Howdy makeup! The majority of the autographed pics I have are framed, including Jason Miller, William Friedkin, Bill Blatty, etc.
I thought some of you may enjoy seeing them, especially the one that Linda autographed of Linda Hager doing the spiderwalk.
Enjoy,
Father Bowdern
Chris MacNeil – The charismatic celebrity and loving mother
Â
Regan MacNeil – The sweet loving daughter inhabited by an “alien intelligence”
Â
Father Merrin – The one hope; the only hope: The Exorcist
Pazuzu's Voice – A mild-mannered actress with vocal chords from the pits of Hell!

ParticipantLove them! I think I'm going to tear down everything (Posters)Â on one side of my room and just have a wall dedicated to The Exorcist.. Just a thought =P
Â
Were these in person or not? =-)

ParticipantDamien,
I only wished they were in person! All pics are authentic originals and come with COAs from various U.A.C.C. members. I honestly had a “movie room” in my basement devoted entirely to a film signatures and props. One wall was dedicated to The Exorcist including some props in shadow boxes. These are all packed away safely in storage. Who knows, maybe they will bring a small fortune when I die. Although, I'm not sure if my heirs will understand how complete the collection is and what it would mean to collectors to own it.

ParticipantSounds like a dream basement! Anything I get that relates to The Exorcist is going to be treated like there's only one in the world =P. I'm still debating whether to open one of my Spider walk figurines (I recentley bought the original and the bloody variant.. waiting for them to arrive) I just like to see things preserved :>

KeymasterNice collection, Father Bowdern. I especially like the Ellen Burstyn and Max Von Sydow images. Might be worth starting a new section for CH.com dedicated to signed images– Blatty's screenplays and whatnot. Would be hard to sift through all the fakes, though.

ParticipantCap, good idea. I can spot the fakes easily now that I own several different copies of autographed pics from this film. For instance, here's another way to tell them apart.
Example:
Note my scan below of Ellen Burstyn's signature on the 8×10 glossy b&w of the poster against the original one I posted. The signature dates for the different pics were obtained during the late 20th century and early 21st century by different U.A.C.C. members:

ParticipantI feel like a total idiot.. I'm not exactly 100% on what U.A.C.C means.. Hehe

ParticipantDon't feel like an idiot, Damien. U.A.C.C. means Universal Autograph Collectors Club, Inc. They are a non-profit organization established in 1965 to beat the scammers. For instance, signatures change over time just as yours did from the time you began writing to the current date and will continue to change as you age.
There are also some considerations of the conditional aspects at the time of the signature: Was the celebrity in an autograph setting that was leisurely or did they have a frenzied blur of pens shoved in their face? Was it cold and were you just standing there in the airport terminal waiting to jump on that star for their signature (this explains many of the scribbled signatures, yet the basics of the autograph are there)?Â
I have many signatures from celebrities that I obtained in person. The vast majority of the time, they simply write their name in a scribbled mess or use their initials. For instance, Drew Barrymore was in no mood for autographs on News Year Eve, yet she was “trapped” on the elevator with me and she said she was in a hurry. I looked at the floor number and said, “Are you sure, we have 27 more floors to go?” She was dating Fabrizio Moretti at the time and she looked at him, rolled her eyes, and gave me her initials on a five-dollar bill I had.
One of the most important features about autographs is understanding that celebrities will often intentionally alter their signatures to identify a contractual signature versus that of an autograph-hounded signature.
As a last example, take a look at this from Harrison Ford as he aged over 25 years.
I hope that helps a little.

PS: Image what your signature would look like if you had this many people grabbing and pulling on the chain-link fence and throwing anything and everything they can through the links and over the fence!

ParticipantGreat stuff, thanks for sharing!
Sadly I don't have anything signed from the original. I do love my Dominion poster from Paul Schrader, though!

KeymasterGreat write-up, Father Bowdern. Very informative.

ParticipantThanks, Cap!
One other quick story, Matt Damon has been the most gracious when I asked for his autograph on a plane heading to our destination in Dallas/Fort Worth. He took the time ask how I was doing and thanked me for being a fan of his films (not him, his films). The biggest bitch I ever came in contact with was Jennifer Lopez who shoved her hand in my face and said very snotty, “Please move out my way, please! I don't have time for that.” Eff you JLo … you can't act or sing and I could set a six-pack of beer on that ass of yours.Â
