ParticipantGiven that the ‘franchise’ should have gone in accordance with Blatty’s true wishes — his trilogy of faith — The Exorcist, The Ninth Configuration and Legion, I will say yes. I like them all, and rate all three 10/10. It is one cohesive theological masterpiece that never came to be because of fat, money hungry, corporate pigs.

KeymasterI’ll admit The Heretic is really growing on me as of late. When I was younger and watched it on the back of The Exorcist, it failed miserably. This would have been the case for many people.
But lately I have fund nostalgic values within the film. When not comparing it so much to the original (which is kinda silly because it IS a SEQUEL, but anyway…) when you let it be a film unto itself, its actually not all that bad.
My ratings,
EXORCIST: 10/10
HERETIC: 6/10
LEGION: 7/10
E:TB: 4/10
DOMINION: 6/10November 12, 2007 at 11:59 PM #19515ManInKhakiExorcist
ParticipantRather than write out the full titles, here are the Aussie slang versions inspired by or coined by the great Justycist (over the years) — with the ratings:
Exy: 10/10
Herry: 5/10
Leggy: 7.5/10
Beggy: 4.5/10
Dommy: 8.5/10

ParticipantThe only two that count are the first and third, though Dominion has qualities. The Heretic is extraordinary.

ParticipantI liked all five movies. Escpecially 1-3. The prequels sit on a different page for me, but are stil good.

ParticipantOh yeah, Father_Lamont, you stole my name! LOL

ParticipantYes I did not know there was already a father Lamont, hehe, anyway I picked it because I am a fan of Richard Burton.

ParticipantI think “The Heretic” is a complete zero by comparrison to “The Exorcist”, “The Ninth Configuration” (perfect films). It scores quite highly in technique and Boormans’ direction. Blattys’ “The Exorcist III” scores an 8 1/2 of 10 and is aging very well. “Dominion” is a 6 1/2 of 10 while the least interesting pic; “The Beginning” gets a 3.

ParticipantI started this topic on IMDb, but didn’t got any answers yet, so I ask the same question here; anybody like all Exorcist movies, like I do? And how would you rate them?
Here are my ratings:
The Exorcist (1973) 10/10 > best horror movie ever
Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977) 10/10 > heavily underrated, visually stunning, wonderful atmosphere, great soundtrack
The Exorcist III (1990) 10/10 > great, mysterious plot, one of the few good third installments in horror history
Exorcist: The Beginning (2004) 7/10 > not a great director, but a fine film though, outstanding lead actor, beautiful cinematography
Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist (2005) 9/10 > fantastic psychological approach, outstanding lead actor, beautiful cinematographyMay 31, 2008 at 11:59 PM #20470mathmarchetti
