It is a weird one. Having watched the film I didn’t feel cheated that there was no exorcism & I felt the film ended really well.

Could they have pulled off the exorcism? The quality of the film is such that I don’t doubt it for a second. I suppose they felt if they filmed the exorcisms it would distract from the psychological aspects of the film.

I can see how some people could see it as a missed opertunity. But, the exorcisms went on for months (I think) so I suppose they felt if they did shoot those scenes the majourity of film would of been about the exorcisms rather than the most interesting part of the story (IMO), the events that led up to the exorcisms.

Also, I think the whole interest in exorcisms is due to the supernatural. In this film the viewer is left under no doubt it’s all due to mental illness. So I suppose watching an exorcism wouldn’t of been that interesting.

But we’ll never know now will we:)
