Who wants The Exorcist in Blu-ray 3D???

I'm actually a fan of 3D in the right movies. Big blockbusters where things have been planned and shot in 3D are fine by me.

Overhauling a 40 year old documentary style chiller though, not such a good idea. It would wreck the feel of the film which I think is nice and subtle in nature. Whilst a few scenes are bombastic, in the main it's a film that slowly and gently gets under your skin. It doesn't need retro fitting with modern gimmickry.

Modern audiences should be able to view it for what it is, a 40 year old classic pure and simple. It's just fine that way.

Having said that, if they did it, I would no doubt go to see it and buy the blu-ray, being totally bereft of all sense when it comes to films I love.

It's needs to be put in theaters. A levitating girl outside the screen would be amazing!

I like 3D too. 🙂 but only certain iconic scenes would be good. Example spider walk. And others. Not the whole film.

I happened to see a 3D version of The Exorcist, a fan had made his version through a program you can purchase on the internet where you can convert 2d movies into 3d movies and vice versa. I had to watch it  using a vlm player you can get for free in the internet. The way this 3d works is the image is 2 images of the movie playing side by side, so you get a double image then you press the 3d button on the vlm player that merges both images together giving you the old 3D effect that they used to show in the movie theaters in the 50's and 80's. To watch the 3D  you have to wear the old 3D glasses with the red and blue lenses and that's how you watch this version on 3D.  You can convert your your own Exorcist movie into 3D or any other movies. Someone had made Dr. No into 3D but there was nothing really spectacular watching it with glasses. The same with The Exorcist, nothing spectacular with the 3D conversion. Some movies were not meant for it, but if you want to try it.  The tools are out there even the 3D version, that's all I have to say about that.

I'm assuming something like this would be free (aka illegal) because it would be a fan-made bit-torrent. There certainly is no official 3D release of The Exorcist in any format.

I rather try a thing like this with clips first.

I was one of the few people who was very excited about Titanic in 3D. Unfortunately, it did nothing for the film in the theater and I saw it in one of the best theaters. I actually fell asleep.

The Exorcist will probably hit a 3D status at some point because WB enjoys making the profits from this stunning film. However, I don't really see anything that 3D could do for the film other than make it seem cheap and gimmicky. I agree with Friedkin's thinking about not doing it. The film is too sacred like it is and has that documentary feel that 3D would absolutely destroy. :/
