ParticipantDoes anyone know where I can download The Exorcist font? I think I've always used a form of Copperplate, but it never seems accurate like the one from the original posters.
Thanks in advance!

ParticipantThe posters seem to use something like Albertus, try this link

However the original book and screen title font are different to the one used on the posters. I suspect it may have been commisioned but I will search through my Linotype and Monotype catalogues for you when I get a spare hour.

PS: You guys probably already have Monster Party dingbats … it includes Regan (letter E) and The Exorcist poster (letter X) here and it's free.

ParticipantI've looked around but couldn't find anything. All I remember is it wasn't a free front.

ParticipantNo problem, Justin. Thanks for looking. It appears to be a question on the net that remains an unsolve mystery.

ParticipantWell I've just scanned through several thousand fonts and so far no luck on either the poster font or the Book/Movie Title font. I'm confining my search to type foundries that would have been in existance in the early 70s Linotype, Monotype, URW, ITC, Berthold etc. But so far no luck. Lots of them are close in one respect or another but no exact matches.
I really would have expected it to be an ITC font if anything.
I'm going to see if I can find an old Letraset catalogue in case it's hiding in their old collection.
Usually when I can't find a font and spend days trying, it turns out to be something really common and staring me in the face.
Â
These are close but no cigar.
Monotype Carre Noir is similar to the poster font but the serifs are to large.
Monotype Memo is similar to font used on the book cover and the movie title card.

ParticipantExcellent, Jagged. You have quite a history in the world of fonts. I know what you mean about the one staring me in the face and not knowing its name.
Thanks again for searching!

ParticipantI have a copy of the font used for the movie, The Exorcist, if anyone is interested. Most likely, though, it may be found on the web. Look for the font, Exocet. I know this is most likely an outdated post but, I was just looking for the font myself when I remebered I bought a copy of, Galaxy of Home Office Help – Fonts, and the exocet font was one that the program has. The program as is, will not install all of the fonts. You can find a copy of it here as of todays date: 2 May 2011. http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/emigre/exocet/ Hope this will help someone.

ParticipantThat's more like the font used for the two prequels rather than the original film, but I was actually looking for that one anyway… so thanks!

ParticipantGlad it came in handy.
