ParticipantI just got mine as well and was terribly underwhelmed. This article would have been good for someone who didn’t really know anything about The Exorcist or hadn’t seen FoG(to which almost every quote from the article was lifted from). The good thing about the issue is everything else but the Exorcist article. A good read for horror fans in general but nothing mouth watering for Exorcist fans.

KeymasterThis is a real shame. It could have been so much more. At least, as you say, there is something there for horror fans in general who may not know a lot about The Exorcist or have seen TFOG.
And, to be fair, FOG did cover many bases. It would be tricky for any future articles to NOT fall back on it.
The NECA cover is BLERG. There is a fine line between profit margin and selling out… The NECA stuff wouldn’t have been so bad with a different cover, perhaps?

ParticipantGod, I couldnt agree more. It annoys me because based on previous issues, I felt fully confident in recomending this issue.

ParticipantWhat really pisses me off is that Kermode only gets mentioned by Paul Davis “in his text.” Ghetto and I are on the same track: This dude did a copy and paste that was so verbatim that I could actually see the faces in the FOG repeating the stuff … including Kermode! Shame on HH and Paul Davis.
Dear Paul Davis,
What you did is called plagiarism unless you specifically reference your sources or have a direct agreement (and some money) for Mark Kermode and WB!

ParticipantI just got my copy at Barnes and Noble in New York. The possessed Regan on the bed figurine is gonna cost 40 dollars retail price from what I read in the article. I prefer the Regan figurine on the cover than the pic of a painting of Regan.

ParticipantThe details are posted above in one my last blogs on this page. Just click the pic and you’ll we be swept away to the larger ad where you can read all the details. The cover on the original is not a painting of Regan. It’s a photo that was washed in purple in Photoshop. I think the “toy” on the cover is a cheap shot at even more advertising for NECA. But, to each his own. 🙂

ParticipantHi Folks,
I received my copy of the tribute to The Exorcist from HorrorHound today. The article by writer Paul Davis is nothing more than a recap of the Fear of God. He even mentions Kermode’s name, but no nods to him for the information he reaped at Kermode’s expense.
There’s nothing, I mean nothing, new that you can’t read about on here. The photos interspersed throughout the eight pages are the same old stuff we’ve all seen before. They are fillers of space to make the article appear much longer than it really is (promos from The Exorcist franchise) which are already in the Image Galleries on here.
I absolutely hate the new cover they replaced it with. The one they had was fine. Then, I flipped back to page 20, “Toy News,” and realized it was a shameful money-making venture for HorrorHound paid for by NECA with big bucks. I can’t blame HorrorHound for making a few extra dollars, but that’s not what I ordered and paid for. I thought I received a toy collector’s book from the image on the cover. I’m including the pic of the new cover and the promo below.
Don’t waste your time or money!
Oh, and The Bedroom head-spinning Regan is not due out until the summer of 2009 … which means we’ll see it in the fall of 2010. I imagine the problems NECA is having with the “mechanics” is the fact that the hair on the rotating head will have to be either flipped up entirely (and look really silly) or made from a softer material that will turn smoothly around the shoulders. The Bedroom is the one I want!!! All good things come “In time …”
