I’m not sure Paz … I think Friedkin really wanted a violent ending to a violent exorcism and we wouldn’t have had that if we hear it only. Friedkin added many different nuances to the scene like Karras choking the demon out of Regan and saying, “Come into me … God damn you, take me!” The demon obliges and we see Karras demonically transformed and then back again before throwing himself out of the window … which, in turn, has an impression of his mother’s face on it before he crashes through. 😛 It may have worked, but we’ll never know since they didn’t film it according to the book.
Oh, hush, dsea! 😉 There will never be nothing like the original … can you imagine that screaming little girl from the Tom Cruise version of War of the Worlds playing Regan? NOT! 🙂

Thankfully she is getting to old to play Regan. They better choose a no-name when they get around to remaking The Exorcist, but alas I can see the headline already:

Captain!!!! Dear God Almighty! Don’t even put those thoughts in my head of Miley shoving a crucifix in her crotch. It’s bad enough that she did that photo shoot without clothes to intrigue us about how sexy (????) she is (????). She makes me shudder! Plus, we’d be stuck with a Disney version of The Exorcist since they “own” Miley! 😉 Can you imagine Disney’s version of The Exorcist with Miley Cirus? Miley says to Father Merrin at the beginning of the exorcism scene: “Stick your thingie up her rump, you worthless, mouse-crunching, mother lover!” 😛

Why is everyone all of the sudden craving the no talent scumbag hacks from Hollywood to remake this movie.

you know what would have been real cool if they filmed the original ending of the exorcist what we saw and another alternate ending. exactly how it is in the book chris and sharon hearing karras’s his voice growing deeper when fightinng the demon and when they race up we only see the window smashed keeping the theatrical ending up to the audience.Just exactly like in the book. Now this I would welcome on a future release IF they had filmed the alternate scene. what do you all think?
Oh, I agree with you Rat … it would be like remaking Gone with the Wind or The Wizard of Oz! Petition the remake before Friedkin approaches WB/Morgan Creek. I mean, how many times can you re-release The Exorcist original with CGI crap?!
