I think Neeson would have been great.

I think Skarsgard did fine, and Dominion is just fine with him. But if Neeson starred, I think it would have gone a long way in making the film fit more with the Friedkin film. To me, Skarsgard looks a lot like Max Von Sydow, but I think Neeson actually is a closer match.

I do also like the idea of Merrin becoming tougher and deeper-voiced with time; the progression adds realism and believability.

Maybe one day Neeson will star in the rumored remake of the Friedkin film. I think the public and Skarsgard are sick of Exorcist prequel and the Exorcist in general. Well, many seem to be, disappointingly.

It was back in 97 that I first herd talk of a prequel, the first 2 names I herd of in Connection with the Merrin Character was Liam Neeson and Sam Neil,
But I imediatly wanted Neeson, and for Years thats who I expected, of course I also expected it would be about the African flashbacks from Exorcist 2.

But I Have no problem with watching Skarsgard then Von Sydow, it Feels Natural, I do feel that in the end Skarsgard was Destind to be Merrin.

During the brief Period when Schrader was fired, And People didn’t know what was going to happen, I Started to think about Peter(ROBOCOP)Weller, for Merrin if Skarsgard Drops out.

I Really wish That Morgan Creeck would realise the Potential of DOMINION if it was a completed film.
It really Needs a Special Edition, Not like star wars, but like STAR TREK:THE MOTION PICTURE DIRECTOR’S EDITION.
and HIGHLANDER 2: THE RENEGADE VERSION(still a bad Movie).

As far back as ’97 they were planning this? Was that before or after the Dominion script by Wisher?

As for a special edition, I look forward to Justy and your in-the-works cuts. You should see what Justy’s cooking up! It’s great. Both you guys have differing yet splendid versions happening. Maybe one day it’ll clue Morgan Creek in.

Sadly, I think with everything (including time) they’d invested in two prequel films, I’m not sure even the promise of money could bring them back to Dominion again. They must curse it and Paul Schrader every day they clock in for work.

Having seen Dominion about as many times as THE EXORCIST, it IS believable that Skarsgard’s Merrin from Dominion becomes Max von Sydow’s; the Indiana Merrin version, from E:TB, though… Maybe Morgan Creek should just sell E:TB to George Lucas so they don’t have to even bother with that pipe-dream Indiana Jones sequel due out in 2014. Set in 1949, it could truly be a sequel. Hey, but seriously… demonic posession and Indiana Jones. Lost churches… seems like a great match. Maybe Lucas could just re-dub people’s lines with with the actors, avoiding filming altogether. Yeah, I’m just talking crazy talk.

I think during 97 I herd Wishers Name, around 98 or 99 I herd of DOMINION being in the title.

Have you read the Wisher draft? It’s incredibly compelling if not strange in what happens to the “Cheche” precurser, Fassi. I won’t spoil it. 😛

Hatter, that was magnificent. Absolutely beautiful. Majestic. The Quran is a book I may not subscribe to, but the work in that video is utterly breathtaking. Thank you for sharing it, though it isn’t your work. 🙂

    Seriously. Thank you. 🙂

this is just out of curiosity, but what if Neeson had played Merrin, what would it have been Like, or what if Skarsgard hadn’t played Merrin, Who Could have played Merrin?

Personally I am very happy with Skarsgard, I was excited about Neeson when he was still a part of it, He’s the rite height and build, His voice is Perfect for a younger Merrin, His eyes look alot like Merrins, and as an actor He would have done great.
the only thing that really botherd me about Neeson, was His nose, it’s Bigger than Max Von Sydows.

I was disapointed whe he left the project, I didn’t think it would get made, Then I herd that Skarsgard had been cast as Merrin, I didn’t know who he was, I looked for some pictures of him on the internet, and I was amaizd by his Resemblance to Max, then I looked at his filmography, then I rented a few of his movies, And I was imediatly Satisfied with Him, of course at the Time I had figured He would Probably Deepen his Voice when playing Merrin, at first I was somewhat disapointed when I saw Him as Merrin, But The Voice issue dissapeard vey quickly, And For me the Logic is that Merrin’s Voice Deepens as he gets older.

When I Herd the Movie was going to be Reshot, I was worried that Skarsgard would not do it, And Was Curious as to Who Could do it.
