ParticipantYou know guys, this whole Warner Brothers “Sept 30th Trailer for the Oct 5th Blu-Ray Release” is really just a psychological attack on us fans. The studio is a liar, but it will also mix lies with the truth to attack us.
Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!
To Damien: Just wear a white collar, and bring holy water. Sprinkle it on the person sitting behing you, and if he/she begins speaking English in reverse, get the hell out of there fast because it could be the Warner Brothers studio demon…
There is only one…

ParticipantWell, I think Blatty is a genius, and if Warner Bros hasn’t paid up, then he SHOULD sue them for everything he can get!!

ParticipantI don’t Damien…The first minute or two of “Tubular Bells” is used in The Exorcist only during the scene where Chris is walking home from the movie set on Halloween, then again during the final credits…At that length, the piece sounds great…But to actually sit through the ENTIRE piece that takes up an entire album side on Mike Oldfield’s original vinyl LP, which I own, I think it gets rather monotonous…Oldfield isn’t a film composer, and although I do agree with Friedkin that Lalo Shifrin’s score originally presented to him “didn’t fit” The Exorcist (although it was perfect for “The Amityville Horror”), I’m glad that they didn’t use the entire “Tubular” piece in Exorcist…It would have just bogged things down.
I majored in Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and although I’ve only scored some minor independent stuff, I still think I have a pretty good idea of how to optimally use (or not use) music to manipulate the emotional girth of a film.
As far as horror films go, I could probably ramble off half a million excellent scores…But most recently, I think my buddy Christopher Young’s score for “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” is one of the best I’ve ever heard…I hated the movie (basically a PG-13 court drama), and Chris knows that I’m rather jealous of his success (he went straight away to Los Angeles right after he got his credentials while I decided to move to the East Coast and live in the mountains, driving an hour to work everyday as a college music professor)…But, I would say his score for Emily Rose is the first thing to come off the top of my head as, at least, ONE of the best horror movie music scores of all time…
Again, Mike Oldfirld’s “Bells” is great for the first few minutes, but IMHO, begins to ware thin after a while…

ParticipantHonestly Justin, I wouldn’t pay too much attention to what TMZ.com says…They are kind of like the “National Enquirer” of the internet!!

ParticipantTo Epicwin123: I’m so sorry to hear that your Dad is getting laid off. That’s really too bad…But, at least you and he both get to see “The Scariest Movie of All Time” on the big screen Thursday night (yeah, I wish they were playing it on Friday too, but at least we have the Blu-Ray release to look forward to the coming Tuesday after that)!!

ParticipantThat’s great Damien!! You must be seeing it at the Regal Cinemas over there…Too bad Regal is only playing the one show at 7pm…I’m going to the Manchester, CT showing and I get to see it twice, at 7pm and 10:30pm!!…I am so freaking stoked man!!

ParticipantAh yes Jagged, I forgot about “The Legend of Hell House”…A great little British scarer!!
Another one I just thought of was “Let’s Scare Jessica to Death”…That was pretty darn creepy, and in my opinion, blows all the more recent vampire flicks away!!

ParticipantI just spend nearly all of today and this evening listening to the unabridged audiobook (11 cassettes!!) of “The Exorcist” as read by Blatty himself. There was a lot of material in the book that had to be cut out of the screenplay simply because of time restraints. I honestly don’t believe that Karl was involved in any of the demonic mayhem. It is hinted at in the film when Lee J. Cobb says his theory was that Burke Dennings was killed, then pushed from Regan’s window by a “very powerful man”, but the scene then jumps right to Ellen Burstyn’s realization that her daughter was the actual murderer. There is also a scene where Karl becomes phsically violent with Dennings after Burke, in a totally drunken state of mind, incessantly badgers Karl about being a Nazi, etc., but again, I don’t think Karl was responsible for any evil doings…This is an interesting thread though!!

ParticipantThanks so much for all the info Father. I tend to think that more and more theaters and showtimes will be listed as the current showings sell out, and we draw closer to Sept 30th.
Ahhh…What excellent days Sept 30th and Oct 5th will be!!

Welcome, Barry!
My local theater is doing midnight, 7:30, and 10:30 showings. I would venture out for the midnight one, but I wanted to see the audience reactions of some audience members who’ve probably never seen the flick before.
Thirty days and counting!
Father Bowdern
That’s fantastic, Father, that you found a theater with a Midnight showing in addition to the 7:30 & 10:30 ones…Do you mind if I ask what theater that is??

ParticipantHi guys. I’m a newbie here and this is my first post.
Just wanted to add that I too am greatly looking forward to seeing “The Scariest Movie of All Time” on the big screen again (last time I saw it there was 10 years ago).
I have bought my tickets to see it twice in a row on Sept 30th…Luckily my theater is showing it at both 7pm AND again at 10:30pm, so I get TWICE the fun!! I can’t wait!!
I also can’t wait for this new Blu-Ray release on Oct 5th!!
What excellent days for…you know!!
