All I can say is, good riddance. After that first viewing I felt that the DVD case was always lying to me. “The version you’ve never seen” actually yeah I have.

Unfortunatly i’ve been reading that Warners are having issues with the disc and that there might be stock shortages. I hope not. I’ve been holding out watching the film all year, just waiting for the Blu Ray. I know I won’t get it release day (i’m in the UK) but the sooner the better.

I have to disagree about Linda Blair’s acting ability or lack of as you put it. Her oscar nomination and golden globe win were well deserved. She was considered the best out of hundreds of girls looked at for the part.

Of course it’s all opinion but this quote from the book “The Story Behind The Exorcist” About the bedroom scene when Chris and Regan discuss her birthday sums it up perfectly for me.

“As expected Ellen Burstyn covers all the emotional bases with accomplished artistry, but Linda Blair is a revelation. The shifting naivete and sophistication in her expressions, the insinuation she managed to pour into a simple phrase like “I heard differently” was a remarkable display of virtuosity for a newcomer.”

Well since The Exorcist was banned on video for god knows how long I had to hunt for a long time to get to see the film for the first time. It took years but I managed to get hold of a pirate copy on cassette that must have been a 10th generation copy of the early 80s pre cert tape. The quality of the picture and sound was horrible but after so many years longing to see the film I loved every miniute.

My first official copy was the 25th anniversary box set with the lobby cards. You know the one.

The UK artwork has finally been released. Now i’m torn over which version to buy. Or should I be really sad and just get both, lol. The US has that cool digibook thing but I perfer the look of the UK release. No red “The” in the title.
