ParticipantDetails here.
The little girl looks like Regan. She seems to wears the same night gown. They even use “as a last resort” in the synopsis. The producers must have said to themselves “Well, if we can’t remake it, let’s rip it off.”

ParticipantWhen I first read about this, I saw LionsGate would be participating. This means they have the funding for great marketing for The Last Exorcism (originally entitled, Cotton). Eli Roth, (Hostel I & II ) and Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead) are producing. Daniel Stamm is directing and he will implore the same realistic look and feel (ala The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity) to this film just as he did in his 2008, A Necessary Death. All make for something to wonder about until it hits the theaters.
The release date is set for August 27, 2010 in the U.S. Don’t gauge the film too much on the photos or even the trailer when it becomes available. The Exorcism of Emily Rose looked to be a hopeful contender to The Exorcist due mainly in part to its heavily marketed “based on a true story” aspect (actually it was too loosely based on the German account of the exorcism and subsequent death of Anneliese Michel). It tanked at the box office and critics and audiences panned it (although my friend Jennifer Carpenter rocked in the role as Emily).
If The Last Exorcism combines some of the aspects of Paranormal Activity and The Exorcist, it may work. Borrowing from these films means using the Paranormal Activity camera movements (from the “real” crew filming the events – see below) and providing creatively and intermittent believable moments of shock value like The Exorcist.
Plot:
“After a career spent helping the devout through prayer and trickery, Reverend Cotton Marcus (Patrick Fabian) invites a film crew to document his final fraudulent days as an exorcist. Soon his faith is truly tested when a desperate plea from the father of a possessed girl (Ashley Bell) brings him face to face with the devil himself.â€In time. In time.

I agree. It could make a good movie. Let’s wait and see.

ParticipantThanks, Steve. I hope those weren’t the “best of the best” scenes combined into one. I was anticipating more because of who is involved, but hopefully it has a great horror story.
We’ll see … in time. In time.

ParticipantOh God….This looks like an “Emily Rose” remake. It even looks kinda like the same actress.I’ll just sit quietly by and wait for the Blue Ray edition of “The Exorcist” to appear this October.I can honestly say that I have yet to see a single possession film that dares to even come close to what made our classic the masterpiece that it was then and always will be.

ParticipantI agree… It really looks like Emily Rose… What a waist of money…

ParticipantCome on people, lets give it a chance. Of course it will never be able to compete with the greatest film ever made, but it could still turn out to be an enjoyable horror film, and that’s all that we can truly ask for.

I agree. I just watched the trailer and I don’t think the movie will be very successful. I think moviegoers will say “it just looks like a ripoff of ‘The Exorcist,’ ‘Paranormal Activity,’ and ‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose.'” I can’t see this movie doing very well in the box office, but I’ve been wrong before.
