ParticipantRyan, your idea about the mini-series was great and caused me much salivation.

ParticipantHmm.. now it’s all making sense. “The dead have their own transmitting stations” > scene in Legion: “Come in, Earth!” “The living are deaf.”

ParticipantInteresting.

ParticipantThis is interesting, being a fan of The Smiths and Morrissey:

Bizarrely, the second sample is from 1971 LP “Breakthrough: An Amazing Experiment In Electronic Communication With The Dead”. This LP was recorded by Latvian psychologist Konstantin Raudive, and is claimed to be voices of the dead recorded in laboratory conditions.

ParticipantOh, absolutely.

ParticipantMaybe so… a dialogue between him and Sunshine/Karras would have been a treat given Blatty’s talents…

ParticipantPerhaps Amfortas could have saved E3.

ParticipantBlizzi, “if we believe, how far could we go” should have been incorporated into Boorman’s Heretic – it would have intelligently complemented “the Good Regan/Good Locust/Teilhardian Omega Point” themes…
Ryan, yes, Amfortas was in a sense Legion’s “Karras figure” – full of suffering, looking for answers. Putting Amfortas in the movie would have made it gripping and poignant.

ParticipantThe more I read about Amfortas’ character the more I relate to him. Why on earth was he excluded from the film?!

ParticipantYes, nice to share like thoughts with like minds… and yes it would be nice to know what exactly is going on, providing the phenomenon will permit itself to be seized!

ParticipantImagine if it had been a three hour two-part television miniseries. Everything could have been incorporated; all the theological musings, the humor, Amfortas, the observation of Karras’ body after the fall, excavating Karras’ (Fain’s) body… There are so many promotional shots of Kinderman in graveyards and whatnot that are such a tease to the senses.

ParticipantHaha, it looks like CH is becoming a club for budding writers! Sofi and I are working on a fanfic. Isn’t that amazing… Blatty will be responsible for inspiring at least three authors! Sofi wants to know (I do too) if Mr. Blatty might be interested in reading our extentions. We are by no means trying to improve upon his work, we just love it so much we wanted to add our own stuff. I’d be plenty happy to strike your inspirational chords 🙂

ParticipantThis is good. The emergence of creativity from admirers of Blatty’s work is the greatest compliment he could receive, I think. It is a testament to the effect his words have on all of us.
An idea struck me while I was attempting to fall asleep last night. I’ll ponder on it a bit more today.

ParticipantThank you. 🙂
