ParticipantHulk Hogan as detective kinderman.
I had to throw that in. Sorry, I’m a dork. ha-ha.
But, seriously,Gillian Anderson is interesting casting choice.February 23, 2008 at 11:59 PM #19976hammer horror
ParticipantI agree with lunuso 100%: they should cast relative unknowns in order to add to the film’s realism. No stars at all.

ParticipantDanny Glover as LT. Kinderman, why stick to exactly a white actor. Your thoughts.

KeymasterI’d spend the entire film waiting for Danny Glover to deliver his famous line “I’m too old for this shit…”

ParticipantIn this case, a cast of total unknowns
and although I highly doubt it, MAYBE WB’s could get Freidkin to direct this “re-tooling”.February 26, 2008 at 11:59 PM #19994Vess
ParticipantNo, no… the remake would need to fail; if it were to succeed, Apocalypse would break out the next day, and I’d prefer it not to come by 2010. Therefore, the choices would have to be as bad as can be. For instance, Paris Hilton for Regan, Ben Affleck for Merrin a [teenage boysband “star” of the week] for Karras, and a rapper (whichever – they all sound, look and act the same) for Kinderman. With music by Marilyn Manson and script by Ehren Kruger & Akiva Goldsman.

ParticipantZac Efron as Regan.

ParticipantMy two cents … I belive in my humble opinion that the crew should be played my unknown actors and maybe with one or two acomplished actors.I say this because i read or saw in one of the articles about the Exorcist back in the day, that one of the actors that was going to play FR.Karras was the great actor Jack Nickolson. In the end they picked Jason Miller because they wanted the attention on the movie and so much on any particular actor. So that to me makes sence… let the movie speak for it self and not the actors.UHMMM What a concept. The theme and message of the movie is scary enough that an unknown crew of talented new actors can make the film work. I also know that this impposible since now in this day in age is all about the bottom line and that would not fly in todays Hollywood.

ParticipantIf there has to be a remake, I’d like to see them go back to the book and bring in more material from the source. The Kinderman investigation would be particularly useful as it could set up a sequel.
I’d cast Stacy Keach as Kinderman, an unknown as Regan, Michelle Pfeiffer as Chris MacNeill, Anthony Hopkins as Merrin and would have cast Heath Ledger as Karras, had he still been alive!

ParticipantIsn’t Stacy Keach dead? Max Von Sydow is the actual age of Merrin now, or atleast close to it. It would be odd to have him play Merrin again.

ParticipantWho do you think would be the best cast and crew for the Exorcist remake?
Decota Fanning might work for Regan.
As for special effects, the guys at Weta Workshop could do a pretty good job at it.
That’s all I can think of for now.
Your thoughts?

ParticipantDepends which Stacy Keach you mean. The older one died a few years ago. The one who played Mike Hammer, was originally cast, then paid off, to play Karras in The Exorcist and played Kane in The Ninth Configuration, is still alive and well!
