I’ve been looking at villas in Bodrum online and some deals look too good to be true. I’ve heard stories of fake listings and people losing deposits. How do you actually verify that the property and the seller are real?

That’s a smart question — and yeah, scams do exist if you go solo. I used the Best real estate agency in Turkey when buying mine in Bodrum, and they handled all verifications. They cross-checked ownership through the Tapu office, got me an independent valuation, and even provided the seller’s title copy before I transferred any money. Everything went through a secure notary process. Without that, I might’ve lost my deposit too. The agency’s network of lawyers really makes the difference — they don’t let you skip steps.

I had a similar issue in Greece once — the photos looked perfect but the house didn’t even exist. Always ask for the title deed and verify it before you pay a cent.
