http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/1641/dominiondvdv26qv.jpgIt’s too bad we all live far apart, it would be much easier and better to sit around a computer like film nerds and discuss this. π

Participantthanks that was one of my concepts for the artwork, I saw yours months ago and loved it to death, with the flashing captain howdy face, which reminds me The good Captain will make an extra appearance or two.
And Justin I would Love to see your dvd cover.May 10, 2006 at 11:59 PM #14539ManInKhakiExorcist
ParticipantAll sound’s good to me, Hatter. And I’d happily show proof of me holding the DVD.
Oh, and Justy: dust off that DVD cover you created that Paul Schrader liked so much. Justy’s a creative genius, you know, Hatter.
M.I.K.E.
Ps.Love your avatar, Hatter. Nice.

Participantas far as trouble goes, The situation is this, it is by the fans and for the fans, this is nonprofit, if there is any payment at all, it would be for shipping, but also whoever wants to obtain it would have to show proof such as a photo of themselves holding an original copy of dominion, so if there is an issue is made about it, the fact stands that people are just getting a new copy of something thet already own, besides I think we would bee doing Morgan Creek and WB a favor by going through the trouble of presenting a better version of the one they releasd, Fan films are always encouraged, Fan re-edits are sinply the next step, it has already been done with some of the star wars movies, rite now a few Highlander movies, And here we have Dominion, A Movie that was shafted, it didn’t even get an average post production budget, and it was slapped onto dvd just to shut people up, I admit the best possible picture quality I could do for the movie is about a 9 or 9.5/10,
but hey it’s a prequel so if there is a bit of grain then thats ok.Remember if anyone wants to talk to me away from the forum, I have already listed my email adress.
Hopefully I will be able to present a few screenshots soon, but ass far as the completion of this edit I would place it around july, because I have to take my time to get things rite.

ParticipantYour dead on about Joseph, I almost shit my pants I couldnt stop laughing so hard in the theater, As for CheChe disapearing, I have something special plannd, I just ask that you keep an open mind.
I was toying with a deleted scene a little while ago, It’s a bit better but still not quite up with the movie, so thats up to all of you as to wheter or not you could except the quality.
I was also wondering about artwork for this dvd, my hands are so full with working on the film itself, that I don’t have alot of time to work on it, so I thought perhaps some of you might want to take a shot at the artwork and submit it to me, I value everybodys ideas on this, plus it’s not exactly fair that Only 1 fan works on this.
I would also like this to be multible disc, with the Re-cut and some bounus matierial, Perhaps someone out there is brave enough to take on the task of putting the bonus disc together. And I need to know how I post pics on here or atleast links to pics

ParticipantCheche disappearing works for me. It’s a supernatural event; these things ought not necessarily always make complete and obvious sense, in my opinion. And as a Paul Schrader film it adds to the transcendental style he showcases in nearly all his films. It works. π
Plus, it’s just like an illusion — a lie — that the devil (Cheche) is gone, defeated. It’s the least Satan could have done to give Merrin false hope that he’d defeated The Enemy. We know it’s not to be, but it’s better than just doing the old, stupid demonic force leaves human shell and human clumsily falls to the ground like that kid in E:TB. Yes, the scene where Joseph falls down stupidly when the gunshots scare the hyenas off; he does this stupid, over-acted head roll — it’s just silly.
Follow? You know there’s something to this. I’m not completely insane. π

ParticipantThanks for your support and ideas Justin, I will probably make a few differnt endings available, How do you fell about the title?

ParticipantGood idea on the fading Cheche, I really don’t like that shot. The light in the dome is a good idea too, it wasn’t bright enough and also it looked day outside.
I think i’d rather see after Stellan/Merrin walks away at the end of Dominion it fade black, and then have some eerie music playing and put the scene of Merrin arriving at the McNeil house from the original.. which suddenly cuts to black as the loud “MERRRRIIIIIIIN” scream sound is played.

ParticipanttHE LAST SHOT WILL DEFINATLY BE LIKE THIS, IT’S HOW i WANTED TO MAKE IT, BUT FOR PEOPLE THAT DISAGREE, I CAN PROBABLY DO AN ALTERNATE CUT(IN TIME) I’LL DO SOME MORE WORK ON THE DELETED SCENS AND SEE IF I CAN PERFECT THE QUALITY, I HAVE A PIECE OF MUSIC THAT IS GOING TO BE IN THE LAST SHOT, IT WILL LAST 5 TO 10 SECONDS, THEN SATAN’S MARCH WILL BE ON, I AM ONLY RECOLORIZING A COUPLE THINGS, i AM ADDING A FEW ADDITIONAL SOUNDS, BUT AS FAR AS EFFECTS GO, i WISH i COULD pEFECT THE HYENAS AND CATTLE BUT I CAN’T, BUT THE EFFECTS IM DOINING IS WHEN THE dEMON IS CAST OUT OF CHECHE, THE LIGHT IN THE DOME OF THE CHURCH IS GOING TO SHOOT THROUGH THE WINDOWS, AND IM ALTERING THE SHOT OF CHECHE’S BODY DISAPEARING, THAT IS THE ONLY SHOT THAT TRUELY BUGGED ME, NOW WE WILL SEE HIM LAYING THERE AND FADE TO WHITE WITHOUT IS BODDY DISAPEARING.
IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE AN ADVOCATE ON THIS, IF ANYBODY WOULD LIKE TO TALK TO ME PRIVATELY, i CAN BE FOUND AT Gentlegiant783@aol.com.
Oh, and as far as the title is concerned, It’s a matter of how many people are in favor of one or the other.

ParticipantI’ll see what I could do about the Exorcism, I do have a 2nd dream sequence Im thinking on, It goes a step further than the first dream, And He would be seeing the soldiers and natives killing eachother, and everything turnig to shit(this is where I would Use some ETB Footage) This dream suggesting to Merrin that this is what could possibly Happen.
So When He saves everyone at the end of the movie it’s much more stronger, I loved the fact that he was able to keep these people from killing eachother, in ETB they all died and so the end didn’t feel very great, But Dominion Has thr brightest and most Hopeful Ending of all the Films, thats one of the reasons I want to have the shot of the overwhelming power of the Light.May 11, 2006 at 11:59 PM #14590ManInKhakiExorcist
ParticipantWhen I am wrong, I am wrong. Good point, Justy. π
I guess I’m just desensitized… or something. π
And, a “DOMINION-only” snob. π I confess.

Participant“that was the worst, but is admittedly the most interesting for a dream sequence (ie. it doesnΓ’β¬β’t make any sense at a superficial level)”
Everyone was going mad and started killing eachother like the 2 soldier in Schrader’s.. makes sense to me. π

ParticipantIf you really want to do a second dream sequence, that could be tricky, with such little footage of Merrin lying in his bed. For this reason and my opinion that the film is perfectly fine with the one dream sequence — though I trust your judgement know what you are doing, and that you only mean well — I’d strongly urge you not to bother. That’s pretty drastic change, I’d say, and I’m not sure you have enough footage to work from/with. Still, I look forward to seeing the end result. It’s sounds quite challenging, this second dream sequence.
Also: If you’re really using Renny Harlin footage for this, I suggest you be careful; his battle scenes were just so bland. And, soldiers fighting soldiers and natives finding natives… that was the worst, but is admittedly the most interesting for a dream sequence (ie. it doesn’t make any sense at a superficial level).
Keep in mind also: be wary of using a lengthy segment or segments… instead of a dream (where there is not logic, but “dream logic” and things are theoretically more surreal and seemingly incomplete and don’t play out like a documentry, whatever you do use at all should be stragtically placed and probably touched up or edited some so that it doesn’t end up looking like a war dramatization — or worse, lifted from a very sorry excuse for an Exorcist film (you know the one). π Be poetic with this dream; keep things subtle. But feel free to let thing build to a climactic finale as Schrader did with his dream sequence… Strangeness, strangeness, and suddently — voi la: 10 seconds of a growling demon! Note: And to avoid this dream being redundant, strive to give it a different tone and imagary — of course. No two dreams are ever alike. And this should be similar but completely differnt in terms of subject compared to the existing film’s one; or, very different. So, same tone, slow pacing, and probably minimal events happening. Strive for something akin to what Schrader has created. Otherwise it will be so different, it may not gel or compliment the rest of the film, let alone the other dream sequence.
Just some thoughts I had.
