ParticipantI'm just curious now that the 40th Anniversary edition's come out. How many of you prefer which one and why? Personally, I like the 2010 version, with the original “Merrin arrives” cover. Jacking the price up and adding two rather dull bonus features doesn't make it worth it to me, when the discs/movies are the same.

ParticipantWhat kind of bonus features do you get with the 2010 edition?
I just purchased the 2013 today, this is my first blu-ray experience. I am still taking in how clear the picture and sound are. The bonus disc is ok, there are some interesting things mentioned in these materials that I did not know before about the book and the film. The booklet that comes with it also has some interesting facts, and photos I have never seen before. I'm going through the blu-ray discs tonight, I may post more later or do a review on my youtube channel.
“The Exoricst” was also my very first DVD experience. Back then, I think I paid somewhere around $25-$30 for first release of “The Exorcist” on DVD, NO bonus features on that disc. 😛

ParticipantThe 2010 blu ray discs are exactly the same ones in the 2013 release. The only difference is the artwork change on the cover (which I don't like…I like the original), the little book that comes with it, and the two bonus interviews on the third disc. Warner Bros. basically repackaged what they already released (with no difference in picture clarity), threw in the tiny book and a couple interviews, and charged $40.
The special features on both discs (Extended version and theatrical) are on the 2010 discs too, since they are not new, just repackaged. No new video transfer, nothing.

ParticipantIt's the first time I haven't gone out and bought any new release of the film. I think Warner's may have finally killed it for me.

ParticipantYea. For once I won't even buy this when it hits the $5.00 bins. What a really rude thing to do to this film after 40 glorious years of raking in the income. WB once again dropped the ball on what could have been. Shame.
