Jagged
Participantooh, well spotted. Just checked it out and it is indeed as you say. I never noticed those eyes in the trunk of the tree before.

ParticipantDoes anyone have images of Regan’s artwork from the movie? What happened to the original props? Does someone have them? I’d like to see a scan of the original drawings and close-ups of the statues attributed to Regan in the film. I wonder who created them in reality?

ParticipantOkay, just another “get your freak on” moment. Take a look at the tree with the bats and notice the one in the lower right-hand corner. If you flipped the image upside down, does it remind you of anyone in the infamous poster scene for the film?

Oh wow, fatherb!! I never thought of that!
And, Witch, I don’t remember, but it was about the symbolism of bats and the other nocturnal animals that Regan draws…October 18, 2009 at 11:59 PM #22108fatherbowdern
ParticipantWorking on an image here … in time … 🙂

ParticipantOkay, here’s the parallelism in some fashion from the entries. I find it rather amusing. However, it’s probably meant to be. Friedkin’s use of parellelism throughout film speaks volumns to this one image just as the others do. After all, why draw bats hanging from trees with ears that match Father Merrin’s hat?

ParticipantLOL Fada. Don’t you think this has just a touch of Cydonia Mesa?

ParticipantGood work, Father.
After the birds drawing, Karras looks at the drawing of the winged lion or dog (I think lion; it kind of has a mane) Y’all know who this is don’t you? Our very own Captain Howdy/Pazuzu. The statue in Iraq seems to have the head of a lion or dog and of course wings. Regan knew what was coming. Her artwork and the things on the walls are full of Pazuzu imagery. Lots of birds (Demon of the wind), red riding hood and the wolf (little girl befriended and used by a beast), something behind Karras as he talks to Chris with a longish nose like the red bird sculpture. The demon was everywhere in the house long before it fully entered Regan.October 22, 2009 at 11:59 PM #22125Witch of Endor
ParticipantHey ugotugotugotwhatiwant, good call on Red Riding Hood. Never would had caught the connection.
Does anyone have a scan/still of the winged lion-head picture?
